Description

This selector is the result of Sons of Liberty Gun Works teaming up with Forward Controls Design to build something that actually holds up under hard use instead of just looking good on a shelf. Machined from 4140 steel and finished with a QPQ nitride coating, it is built to shrug off the wear and corrosion that eventually creeps into cheaper stamped selectors. The 50 degree throw gives you a shorter, quicker rotation from safe to fire, which a lot of guys who run their rifles hard tend to prefer over the standard 90 degree sweep.

What sets this one apart is the lever setup. The right side runs a long offset Q Lever, shaped so it sits closer to your thumb when the rifle is on fire, letting you roll it back to safe without breaking your grip or shifting your hand position. The left side keeps a short standard lever, which is a common combo for right handed shooters who still want ambi function without extra bulk under their support hand. Both levers attach to the center barrel with stainless steel roll pins rather than the tiny screws you see on a lot of other ambi selectors, so there is nothing to strip out, cross thread, or vibrate loose after a few hundred rounds.

Installing the Quick Ambi Safety 50 Degree Selector

Swapping this in is the same basic process as any AR-15 safety selector, though the offset Q Lever design means you will want to pay attention to orientation during install so the lever sits correctly relative to your grip. It drops into standard AR-15 and M16 pattern lower receivers without any modification.

Why the Q Lever Setup on This SOLGW Selector Matters

The whole point of the Q shaped lever is keeping your hand where it belongs. Instead of reaching or repositioning to hit the safety, the offset geometry brings the lever to your thumb, which makes a real difference during faster transitions between shots.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the Quick Ambi Safety 50 Degree selector fit any AR-15 lower receiver?

Yes, this selector is built to standard AR-15 and M16 pattern lower receiver specs, so it drops into most mil-spec and commercial lowers without needing any fitting or modification. As with any ambi safety, just double check your specific lower has the standard safety selector hole cut for both sides.

What is the difference between the 50 degree and 90 degree throw on this selector?

The 50 degree version gives you a shorter rotation between safe and fire compared to the traditional 90 degree AR safety sweep. Some shooters like the shorter throw for faster manipulation, though it comes down to personal preference and what feels natural on your rifle.

Why does the Q Lever only go on one side of this configuration?

This particular configuration pairs a long Q Lever on the right side with a short standard lever on the left, which is a popular setup for right handed shooters who still want ambidextrous function. The offset Q Lever design shifts the lever closer to the thumb so you can flick it back to safe without losing your grip on the rifle.

How does the roll pin attachment on this SOLGW selector compare to screw-based ambi selectors?

Instead of small screws that can strip out or work loose over time, this selector uses stainless steel roll pins to secure the levers to the center barrel. That means less chance of the lever shifting, cross threading, or needing regular re-tightening after extended use.
