The cartridge is a big part of the story here. 6mm MAX is built on the .350 Legend case necked down to 6mm, which means it runs on a standard 5.56 bolt face with full lug strength. That matters, because it delivers ballistics right alongside 6mm ARC without the thinned-out bolt that cartridge requires. You get bullet weights from 55 up to around 100 grains, mild recoil, and loads that stay supersonic past 1,000 yards. Feeding comes from .350 Legend pattern magazines, and SOLGW includes two 20-rounders with the rifle.
The free float L89 M-LOK handguard uses SOLGW's Drive Lock system, which keys directly into the upper receiver for one of the most rigid rail interfaces you will find on a two-piece AR design. 6mm MAX is a newer cartridge based on the .350 Legend case necked down to 6mm, developed by BC Precision Ballistics and brought to market with Sons of Liberty Gun Works. Ballistically it runs neck and neck with 6mm ARC, pushing bullets from 55 to around 100 grains and staying supersonic past 1,000 yards. The key difference is that 6mm MAX uses a standard 5.56 bolt face with full lug strength, so you skip the bolt durability concerns that come with the ARC's thinner bolt face.
It feeds from .350 Legend pattern AR-15 magazines, which have a straighter body than Grendel or ARC mags and are widely available. The rifle ships with two 20-round magazines, so you are covered right out of the box. Standard 5.56 magazines will not feed this cartridge properly.
Yes, the 16 inch stainless barrel is threaded 5/8×24, a common thread pitch with plenty of muzzle device and suppressor mount options. It wears a simple flash hider from the factory, so swapping to your preferred suppressor mount or brake is quick. The rigid Drive Lock handguard also helps keep accessories stable when running a can.
Factory-loaded 6mm MAX ammunition is available through Sons of Liberty Gun Works and select retailers in several bullet weights, from lighter varmint-style loads to heavier match and hunting projectiles. Reloaders are well supported too, since Starline produces 6mm MAX brass and published load data covers a wide range of bullets. It is a newer cartridge, so stocking up when you find it is smart.
