SnakeStaff took feedback from military, EMS, law enforcement, and everyday folks and reworked the platform with three patent-pending features. The Power Curve slot spreads tension toward the center of the band for more even pressure, the Tri-Grip Windlass gives you a solid hold with gloved or bloody hands, and the steel Power Ring reduces the effort of those first tough twists. On top of that, the body is longer and straighter, the carabiner lock is enlarged for easier windlass stowing, and the band now has a reinforced backing that keeps it from folding and sticking to itself during application.
The 1" width is the most compact option in the lineup and the easiest to stash for true pocket carry. Every unit comes printed with QR-coded instructions so an untrained bystander has guidance in a pinch, but the smart move is still to run a Stop the Bleed course and rehearse the draw, wrap, and windlass sequence so it's muscle memory. Think of this as the tourniquet you always have on you to back up a full-size primary, not replace one. The best tourniquet is the one that's on you when the bleeding starts, and this one is small enough that you'll actually carry it.
No, it's built as an everyday-carry and backup device rather than a primary duty tourniquet. The idea is to keep a real windlass tourniquet on you at all times to complement a full-size primary such as a C-A-T Gen 7 or SOF-T Wide. For your main limb tourniquet, carry a duty-grade option and let the ETQ cover you when that primary is out of reach.
This Gray model is the 1" Standard, which is the most compact for true pocket and everyday carry and works across all limb sizes. The 1.5" Wide version spreads pressure over a larger surface area and matches the band width of common duty tourniquets, which some folks prefer for larger adult limbs. Both share the same Gen 2 engineering and are made in the USA.
Each ETQ is printed with QR-coded instructions to help guide an untrained responder in an emergency. That said, the strongest move is to take a Stop the Bleed course and practice the application so it becomes second nature under stress. A blue trainer version is also available so you can rehearse without wearing out your carry unit.
