The 3.6 inch stainless barrel wears a durable Armornite finish and a target crown, and the flat-face trigger breaks cleaner than any factory Shield trigger before it. You also get aggressive front and rear slide serrations, a reversible mag catch, an AmeriGlo Trooper LumiGreen front night sight over a blacked-out rear, and a Picatinny rail up front for a light. Those last two are things the original Shield never offered.

In most cases, no. The Shield X has a longer 3.6 inch barrel, a taller grip, a reshaped trigger guard, and an accessory rail that older Shield holsters weren't cut for. Plan on picking up a holster made specifically for the Shield X, and if you mount the included RFX11, make sure it's optic compatible too.
It is. Even with the longer grip and 15+1 capacity, the frame stays right around 0.9 inches wide and the pistol weighs 20.8 ounces empty. It's a bit taller than the original Shield, but the extra grip length gives you a full-hand hold that makes it noticeably easier to shoot well, and it still disappears under a normal shirt in an IWB rig.
