This version, model 14508, adds a factory-integrated Crimson Trace red laser, giving you a fast aiming reference in low light or from awkward positions where a traditional sight picture just is not happening.
The sights got a real upgrade here. Instead of the shallow trough you find on most snub-nose revolvers, the 2.0 wears a machined U-notch rear paired with an orange dot front blade that your eye picks up quickly against just about any background. The cylinder release moved to the center of the frame and works from either side, so left-handed folks finally get a reload that does not feel like a workaround. A reshaped boot-style polymer grip fills the hand better than the old design while staying slim enough to disappear under a t-shirt.
At roughly 14.4 ounces, this thing carries like it is barely there. The one-piece aluminum alloy upper frame keeps weight down, the 1.875 inch stainless steel barrel handles the wear, and the PVD-coated stainless cylinder shrugs off sweat and holster time. Yes. The Bodyguard 38 2.0 is chambered and rated for .38 S&W Special +P, so it runs modern defensive loads without issue. Standard pressure .38 Special works fine too and is a bit softer on the hands for practice sessions.
This model, 14508, ships with a factory-integrated Crimson Trace red laser built into the frame. The base model, 14507, is the same revolver without the laser. Everything else, including the barrel, sights, grip, and DAO action, is identical between the two.
It is one of the more lefty-friendly small revolvers out there. The cylinder release is mounted in the center of the frame and works from either side, which eliminates the awkward cross-hand manipulation traditional S&W revolvers force on left-handed users. The DAO trigger and shrouded hammer are naturally ambidextrous as well.
At about 14.4 ounces with a shrouded hammer and no controls to snag, it excels at pocket and deep concealment carry where slides and safeties on autos can hang up. You give up a little capacity at 5 rounds, but you gain simplicity, since there is no slide to rack and the revolver tolerates lint, long storage, and contact-distance shooting better than most semi-autos.
