The SMC (Shoot, Move, Communicate) is Grey Ghost's most dialed-in carrier, and it shows the moment you pick it up. Built from laser-cut laminate nylon, it gives you all the modularity of traditional MOLLE webbing at a real weight savings, and the whole rig tips the scale at just 1.5 lbs without plates. That laminate is water and chemical resistant, and because the cut edges are heat-sealed by the laser, they won't fray on you over time. It's designed to carry a pair of 10×12 hard plates or most large SAPI plates.
The standout here is the Rapid Open Connector (ROC) buckle system. You get ROC buckles on one reversible shoulder strap and on either side of the cummerbund, so the carrier can be released in a hurry if things go sideways, and it makes getting in and out of the rig a whole lot quicker day to day. The shoulder buckles use an upward keyhole lock that takes a deliberate three-direction movement to disconnect, so you're not worrying about accidental releases. If you'd rather run the included metal slide ring instead, the shoulder ROC buckles pop off easily.
The cummerbund carries MOLLE/PALS webbing so you can hang side plate pouches or admin pouches wherever you need them, and it adjusts to your torso by way of two MALICE clips in the back. Up front there are six rows of MOLLE/PALS webbing, with built-in loop material across the top three rows for patches or ID panels. There's also an open front pocket that's handy for maps, a watch cap, gloves, or routing hydration and comms cables.
Breathable mesh is worked into the cummerbund and the inside faces of the carrier body, and the interior padding is wrapped in tweave to add air channels that help wick away sweat. The back panel runs YKK zippers and webbing that accept any of Grey Ghost's SMC zippered back panels, so you can grow this from a slick minimalist setup into an assault-pack-equipped rig down the road. It's a one-size-fits-most design thanks to the adjustable shoulder straps and cummerbund. Keep in mind armor plates are sold separately.
