Description
The SCS-Lite is MDT's lighter take on their Skeleton Carbine Stock, built for people who want a dialed-in fit without carrying extra ounces to the range or into the field. It's CNC-machined from 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum and wears a black Cerakote finish over anodized aluminum buffer tube and cheek riser posts, so it can take a beating while tipping the scale at just 1.62 lbs. The skeletonized body cuts weight where it can while keeping the rigidity you want behind a precision rifle, and there's no slop or rattle once you set it.
Dialing In Fit With the SCS-Lite
Adjustability is the whole point of a stock like this, and MDT keeps it simple. The cheek riser gives you 1.5 inches of tool-less height adjustment, so you can nail a repeatable cheek weld no matter how high your scope sits. Length of pull opens up about an inch of range and comes with four quarter-inch spacers in the box to fine-tune the fit to your frame and gear. The cheek riser is also reversible, which is a nice touch for lefties.
Mounting and Carry Options on the SCS-Lite
This buttstock uses a carbine/collapsible interface and bolts right onto MDT LSS and LSS Gen 2 chassis. If you're running an ACC, ESS, HS3, TAC21, or LSS-XL Gen2 fixed setup, you'll need the matching MDT adapter to make it work. For carrying, you get two QD flush-cup sling mounts, one on each side, plus an M-LOK slot on the bottom surface if you want to hang a mono-pod or other accessory.
Folks tend to reach for the SCS-Lite as a wallet-friendly alternative to a Magpul PRS, and it earns that comparison. It's a solid pick for a precision bolt gun in a chassis, a PRS or NRL competition build, or any rig where you're chasing a clean, repeatable fit without piling on weight. The machining quality and tight lockup are what keep bringing people back to MDT.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the MDT SCS-Lite fit right out of the box?
The SCS-Lite mounts directly to MDT LSS and LSS Gen 2 chassis using its carbine interface. If you're running an ACC, ESS, HS3, TAC21, or LSS-XL Gen2 fixed chassis, you'll need the corresponding MDT adapter. It's designed for chassis-based precision rifles rather than a standard AR-15 buffer tube setup.
How is the SCS-Lite different from the standard SCS?
The Lite trims weight and cost while keeping the core tool-less cheek riser and length-of-pull adjustments that make these stocks popular. The standard SCS uses a different cheek riser mechanism and adds features like buttpad cant and horizontal adjustment. For a straightforward, lighter build the SCS-Lite hits the sweet spot at just 1.62 lbs.
Can a left-handed shooter use the SCS-Lite?
Yes. The cheek riser on the SCS-Lite is reversible, so lefties can flip it over to get a proper cheek weld. It's a simple swap that makes the stock work comfortably from either side.
Does the SCS-Lite come with the spacers to adjust length of pull?
It does. The stock ships with four quarter-inch spacers, giving you about an inch of length-of-pull adjustment to tune the fit to your frame and gear. Combined with the 1.5 inches of tool-less cheek riser height, you can dial in a repeatable fit behind your optic.
