Description

The full-size P320 XTEN is a great pistol, but at 8.5 inches long, carrying one all day in the field is a commitment. The XTEN Carry Comp solves that. SIG trimmed the slide to carry-length, paired it with a 3.8-inch stainless bull barrel, and built a single-port expansion chamber directly into the slide in front of the muzzle. The result is a 7.6-inch 10mm that shoots noticeably flatter than anything else in its class. Independent reviewers across multiple publications have consistently noted it handles softer than the full-size XTEN and outpaces the Glock G20, FN 510 Tactical, and S&W M&P 2.0 10mm in recoil management. For a 10mm, that is a meaningful difference.

What Makes the P320 XTEN Carry Comp Different From Other 10mm Pistols

The compensator here is not a gimmick. The expansion chamber is machined into the slide itself and cannot loosen or separate during firing the way an externally threaded comp can. It captures and redirects propellant gases upward through a port in the top of the slide, countering muzzle rise at the source. Combined with the XCarry grip module's full 360-degree texturing, high undercut trigger guard, and extended beavertail, the pistol stays flat and stays in your hand. The flat-face XSeries trigger breaks cleanly at a 90-degree wall with a short, tactile reset, which is exactly what you want when you need fast, accurate follow-up shots with a hard-hitting cartridge.

P320 XTEN Carry Comp Sights, Optics, and Controls

The optic-ready slide runs a Nitron finish over stainless steel and is cut to the SIG PRO RX footprint, compatible with the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro and Trijicon RMR family. If you plan to mount a red dot on a 10mm, just be sure to pick something built for the abuse. The XRAY3 day/night sights are on board as a baseline and they are genuinely useful, with tritium front and rear that makes low-light acquisition fast without needing a light. Controls include an ambidextrous slide catch and a reversible magazine release. This particular model also includes a manual safety on the fire control unit for those who prefer that extra layer while carrying.

This SKU ships with two 10-round steel magazines. The overall package weighs 32.3 ounces with a magazine, which gives it enough mass to help soak up recoil alongside the compensator. It also comes covered by SIG's Infinite Guarantee, which is fully transferable and requires no registration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the integrated compensator on the P320 XTEN Carry Comp actually reduce recoil, or is it mostly marketing?

It genuinely works, and the reason comes down to physics. The 10mm cartridge generates significantly more pressure and gas volume than a 9mm, which is exactly what a compensator needs to do its job effectively. SIG's expansion chamber is machined directly into the slide forward of the muzzle and redirects those gases upward, with the company citing up to a 20 percent reduction in felt recoil. Multiple independent reviewers have tested it alongside the full-size XTEN, the Glock G20, and the FN 510 Tactical and consistently ranked the Carry Comp as the softest-shooting of the group.

What optics are compatible with the XTEN Carry Comp slide?

The slide uses the SIG PRO RX footprint, which is compatible with the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, Trijicon RMR, and other optics that share that mounting pattern. Because 10mm is hard on optics generally, it is worth selecting something with a proven track record for durability. SIG's own ROMEO2 is designed with the XTEN's recoil impulse in mind and is a reliable choice. After initial mounting, plan to recheck torque after your first range session.

What is the difference between this model and the standard P320 XTEN Carry Comp?

This specific SKU, MPN 320XCA-10-COMP-MS-10, includes two 10-round steel magazines and a manual safety on the fire control unit. The standard Carry Comp (320XCA-10-COMP) ships with 15-round magazines and no manual safety. The slide, barrel, compensator, sights, and grip module are the same across both variants. If the magazine capacity is important to you, 15-round magazines for the 10mm and .45 ACP P320 platform are available separately.

Is this a good choice for backcountry or trail carry?

It is one of the better options on the market for that role. The 10mm cartridge is well-regarded for handling dangerous wildlife scenarios, and the Carry Comp's compact 7.6-inch overall length makes it much easier to pack in a chest rig, shoulder holster, or pack compared to the full-size 8.5-inch XTEN. The XRAY3 night sights, optic-ready slide, and integrated comp that tames muzzle flip all point toward a pistol built for serious field use rather than just range work.

Will standard P320 holsters fit the XTEN Carry Comp?

Not necessarily. The XTEN Comp slide is wider than the standard P320 slide due to the expansion chamber built into it, so holsters designed for the regular P320 or even the full-size XTEN may not fit properly. You will want to look for holsters specifically listed as compatible with the P320 XTEN Comp. A number of major holster manufacturers do make XTEN Comp-specific fits, but always verify before you buy.

What parts and accessories are compatible with the P320 XTEN Carry Comp?

SIG has noted that the XTEN platform is only compatible with 10mm and .45 ACP P320 parts and accessories. Components from the 9mm, .357 SIG, or .40 S&W P320 family will not interchange. The serialized fire control unit can be swapped into other 10mm/.45-compatible P320 grip modules, which is one of the practical advantages of the modular P320 system.
