The result is the Cross-Magnum Sawtooth, a 7mm PRC bolt gun that weighs in around 8.5 pounds with the magazine while holding the kind of accuracy you would expect from a dedicated precision rig. The 24 inch carbon fiber wrapped barrel is built on a 416R stainless core, so you get full-length magnum velocity without lugging a heavy steel tube up the mountain. Sig certifies every one of these rifles sub-MOA before it ships, and the actual test target comes in the box so you can see what your specific rifle did at the factory.
The one-piece Cross-Magnum receiver keeps everything rigid and consistent, and the 20 MOA Picatinny rail up top gives you plenty of elevation for stretching the 7mm PRC out where it belongs. The two-stage match trigger adjusts from 2.5 to 4 pounds, and the stainless heavy-profile radial brake cuts felt recoil by up to 45 percent, which takes a lot of the sting out of a magnum cartridge and helps you spot your own impacts. You can. The Proof Research barrel is threaded 5/8×24, which is the standard thread pitch for most .30 caliber and 7mm suppressors and muzzle devices. Just remove the factory radial brake and thread on your can or a direct-thread mount.
