This is an all-metal pistol, and that alloy frame does real work soaking up recoil so the sights settle faster between shots. It's a hammer-fired pistol, true to the classic P226 design. The difference here is the single-action-only setup, meaning the trigger has one job: releasing the hammer. That's what gives the AX1 trigger its short, light, consistent pull compared to a traditional DA/SA P226.
Yes, this SAO model is equipped with a frame-mounted manual safety, which is standard on single-action-only pistols of this type. It lets you carry with the hammer back and the safety engaged, similar to how 1911 users run their guns. The controls are contoured and easy to sweep off naturally on the draw.
This model includes three flush-fit 18-round steel magazines right in the box. That's a nice bump over the 15-round mags found on older P226 variants, and having three from the factory means you can load up for a match or training class without buying extras right away.
