The Cross came out of SIG's New Hampshire R&D shop with a clear goal: build one rifle that hunters and long-range guys would both reach for. Most precision rifles are too heavy to lug up a ridgeline, and most mountain rifles give up features at the bench. This one splits the difference better than just about anything else out there, coming in under 7 pounds while still running a one-piece aluminum receiver, a free-floating M-LOK handguard, and an AICS-pattern detachable magazine.
The 18 inch stainless steel barrel wears a 1:8 twist that stabilizes the long, high-BC bullets 6.5 Creedmoor is known for, and the muzzle comes threaded 5/8×24 with a thread protector so adding a suppressor or brake is a five minute job.
