Description
The Cross came out of Sig's New Hampshire R&D shop with a simple goal: build a rifle accurate enough for precision work but light enough that you'd want to haul it up a mountain. At 6.5 pounds bare, it undercuts most chassis rifles by a wide margin, and the folding Sig Precision stock drops the packed length from 36.5 inches down to about 25. That makes a real difference when you're strapping a rifle to a pack for a backcountry hunt or just trying to fit it in a smaller case.
What Makes the Cross Different
Instead of bolting a barreled action into a separate chassis, Sig machined the Cross around a one-piece aluminum receiver. There's no bedding, no action screws to work loose, and the free-floating M-LOK handguard attaches straight to the receiver. The 16 inch stainless barrel wears a 1:10 twist that handles common .308 bullet weights well, and the 5/8×24 threaded muzzle is ready for a brake or suppressor right out of the box. Up top, a full-length Picatinny rail gives you plenty of room to mount glass, since the rifle ships without sights.
A Trigger and Bolt Built for Repeatable Hits
The two-stage match trigger is one of the best features on this rifle, breaking clean and adjustable from 2.5 to 4.5 pounds so you can set it where you like it. The three-lug bolt runs a short 60 degree throw, which means faster cycling and more clearance under a big scope, and the bolt handle is interchangeable. Feeding comes from AICS-pattern detachable box magazines, and one 5-round mag is included. An ambidextrous safety rounds out the controls.
Where the Sig Cross .308 Fits
This is a rifle for the hunter who wants precision-rifle features without precision-rifle weight, or the range shooter who wants something that travels easy and runs a can well. The stock adjusts for length of pull and comb height, so getting a proper cheek weld behind your optic takes seconds, not a trip to the gunsmith. Pair it with quality glass and good ammo and the Cross will hold its own well past typical hunting distances.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a 16 inch barrel long enough for .308 hunting and long-range work?
For most real-world hunting distances, yes. You give up some velocity compared to a 20 or 24 inch tube, but .308 still delivers plenty of energy for deer, hogs, and similar game well past 400 yards from a 16 inch barrel. The shorter length also makes the Cross handier in a blind, on a pack, and especially with a suppressor attached.
Does the Sig Cross come with a scope or iron sights?
No, this rifle ships optic ready with no sights installed. The full-length Picatinny rail on top of the receiver gives you plenty of mounting room for a hunting scope or precision optic. Plan on budgeting for quality glass, because the rifle's accuracy deserves it.
What magazines does the Sig Sauer Cross use?
The Cross feeds from AICS-pattern short action detachable box magazines, and one 5-round mag comes in the box. Since AICS is one of the most common magazine patterns out there, finding spares in 5 or 10 round capacities from Sig or aftermarket makers is easy.
Is the Cross suppressor ready?
Yes. The 16 inch stainless barrel is threaded 5/8×24, which is the standard pattern for most .30 caliber suppressors and muzzle brakes. The short barrel keeps the overall package manageable with a can mounted, which is a big part of why this configuration is so popular with suppressor owners.
