Most polymer magazine catches will eventually wear when paired with steel magazines. This catch is precision-machined from steel and finished with black nitride coating for wear resistance and corrosion protection. The extended knurling (1/32 inch) gives you better tactile control during magazine changes. It's right-hand specific, which lets Shield Arms eliminate the extra material and angles needed for ambidextrous designs, resulting in cleaner engagement and faster reloads.

While it remains technically compatible with OEM plastic magazines, Shield Arms does not recommend using their steel catch with factory polymer mags, as it can cause increased wear and inconsistent drop-free operation. Stick with steel on steel or plastic on plastic for best results.
The premium version features a slightly extended catch face (about 0.03 inches longer) and is hand-specific for smoother reloads without hard angles. The standard catch is ambidextrous with less engagement. If you want the best feel and most reliable lockup with S15 magazines, the premium upgrade is worth it, especially for carry use.
