Sharps Bros built its name machining aggressive, high quality parts for AR builders, and that same attention to detail carries over into this grip module for the Springfield Armory Echelon. Instead of the factory polymer frame, you get a solid piece of 7075-T6 aluminum finished in OD Green Cerakote with black anodized grip panels bolted on. It's a drop in replacement that bolts right onto your existing Echelon fire control unit, no gunsmithing required, and it works with both the compact and full size versions of the pistol.
The biggest difference you'll notice right away is the grip angle. Springfield ships the Echelon with roughly an 18 degree angle, and this module brings that down to about 13 degrees with more defined curves through the palm swell. That steeper angle tends to point more naturally for people coming from 1911 or CZ style guns, and combined with the added weight from the aluminum construction, felt recoil smooths out noticeably compared to the stock polymer housing. The magazine well is also flared, which helps reloads go in cleaner under stress.
A three slot M1913 Picatinny rail sits up front for mounting a weapon light, so you're not giving up any accessory compatibility by going aftermarket. As shipped, this module seats Springfield's compact 15 round magazines flush. If you're running full size 17 or 21 round mags, Sharps Bros sells a magazine funnel that fits this module and cleans up that fitment for extended mags. Note that the magazine release assembly isn't included with the module itself, so you'll reuse the one from your factory grip or pick up a replacement separately.
Install is straightforward if you've ever worked on a striker fired pistol with a removable chassis, since the Echelon's modular design was built with this kind of swap in mind. Once it's on, the module still fits standard Echelon holsters, so you won't need to buy new carry gear just because you upgraded the grip.
The module seats all Springfield OEM Echelon 9mm magazines. Compact 15 round mags sit flush right out of the box, but if you're running full size 17 or 21 round magazines, Sharps Bros offers a separate magazine funnel that gives you a cleaner fit for those extended mags.
