Seekins Precision changed the conversation on lightweight bolt guns when the original Havak Element showed up with its aluminum and steel hybrid action, and the Element M3 pushes that idea further. The heart of this rifle is a redesigned three-lug bolt with a 60 degree throw, which keeps your hand clear of the scope and makes follow-up shots noticeably quicker than the old 90 degree design. Add in the patent-pending Quick-Change Barrel Collar and a toolless removable bolt, and you have a rifle you can maintain or rebarrel without sending it off to a gunsmith.
This configuration pairs the proven 308 Win cartridge with a 16 inch carbon fiber wrapped 416R stainless barrel, and the combination is a natural fit for timber hunts, tree stands, and anyone running a suppressor. The 308 gives up very little from a shorter tube at practical hunting distances, and the muzzle comes threaded 5/8×24 with a Hunter muzzle brake installed, so a can spins right on. Short, stiff, and light, this is the kind of rifle that stays out of your way on a long pack in and points fast when it counts.
The PH3 carbon composite stock wears the Woodland Shadow finish and brings features you usually see on heavier precision rigs. An adjustable cheek riser lets you dial in eye alignment behind larger optics, full-length M-LOK along the fore-end handles bipods and accessories, and the integrated 20 MOA Picatinny rail includes a bubble level to help you stay off cant on longer shots. The TriggerTech trigger is user adjustable from 2.5 to 5 pounds, so you can set it crisp and light for the bench or a bit heavier for cold-weather gloves.
Capacity runs 3+1 through the included carbon fiber magazine, keeping weight down where a hunting rifle needs it. Seekins backs the whole package with a no questions asked lifetime warranty, which says a lot about how much confidence they have in this platform. For a do-it-all short action hunting rifle that carries like a featherweight and shoots like a precision gun, this one is tough to beat.
The M3 moves from a two-lug, 90 degree bolt to a three-lug design with a 60 degree throw, which clears low-mounted scopes and speeds up cycling. It also adds Seekins' patent-pending Quick-Change Barrel Collar, so swapping or servicing the barrel no longer requires a trip to a gunsmith. The action remains the same aluminum and steel hybrid concept that keeps overall weight down.
Yes. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 and ships with a Hunter muzzle brake installed, so you can remove the brake and attach most 30 caliber suppressors directly. The shorter 16 inch barrel keeps overall length manageable once a can is mounted, which is a big reason people pick this configuration.
You lose some velocity compared to a 20 or 22 inch barrel, but 308 handles shorter barrels better than most cartridges. At typical hunting distances inside 400 yards, modern hunting loads still deliver plenty of energy for deer, hogs, and black bear. The tradeoff is a rifle that is noticeably handier in thick cover, blinds, and stands.
Both are user adjustable. The TriggerTech trigger can be set anywhere from 2.5 to 5 pounds to match your preference, and the PH3 stock's adjustable cheek riser lets you set your head position for proper eye alignment behind your scope. That combination makes it easy to get comfortable and consistent behind the rifle.
