The 1:8 twist is the right call for .223 Wylde, spinning up the heavier 69 to 77 grain match bullets that make this chambering shine at distance while still running lighter loads just fine.

The whole point of the switch-barrel design is that you can do it at home with a barrel vise, action wrench, and torque wrench. That said, verifying headspace with the proper gauges is the responsible way to do it.
