Anyone who runs a pistol suppressor across more than one handgun knows the drill. Every host has its own thread pitch, and buying pistons one at a time gets old fast. SilencerCo put together this kit to end the guesswork, bundling the five piston sizes that cover the vast majority of threaded pistol barrels out there. You get a 1/2×28 for most 9mm barrels, a .578×28 for .45 ACP, a 9/16×24 for .40 caliber hosts, plus M13.5×1 LH and M16x1 LH for European metric barrels like those on HKs, Sigs, and factory-threaded imports.
Each piston in the kit is machined from stainless steel, heat treated, and given a black nitride finish that adds wear resistance and a bit of natural lubricity. That matters on a part that slams back and forth every time you press the trigger. The piston is the heart of the Nielsen device, the spring-loaded booster that lets a tilting pistol barrel unlock and cycle reliably with the extra weight of a can hanging off the muzzle. SilencerCo rounds out the box with three O-ring packs, covering the booster assembly along with M13 and M16 sizes, so you have fresh seals on hand when the old ones start looking tired.
Despite the Osprey/Octane name, this kit plays nice with a wide range of SilencerCo pistol cans, including the Osprey and Octane lines, Omega K series, Omega 36M, Hybrid 46, and Hybrid 46M. Swapping pistons takes seconds, which means one suppressor can move from your 9mm carry gun to a .45 to a metric-threaded import without missing a beat. If you plan to mount up on a fixed-barrel host like a pistol-caliber carbine, just grab a fixed barrel spacer separately and you are covered there too.
For multi-gun owners, this kit is the practical route. Buying these pistons individually costs more and usually means waiting on the one size you forgot. Having all five in the drawer, with spare O-rings to boot, keeps your can working instead of waiting.
It works with SilencerCo pistol suppressors that use the standard SilencerCo piston system. That covers the Osprey and Octane series along with the Omega K series, Omega 36M, Hybrid 46, and Hybrid 46M. If your can uses SilencerCo's booster assembly, these pistons drop right in.
You get five pistons: 1/2×28, .578×28, 9/16×24, M13.5×1 LH, and M16x1 LH. That lineup covers most 9mm, .40, and .45 ACP threaded barrels, plus the metric left-hand patterns common on HK and other European pistols. Between the five, the majority of threaded handgun barrels on the market are accounted for.
Not by itself. Pistons are designed for tilting-barrel pistols where the Nielsen device helps the action cycle. For fixed-barrel hosts like PCCs or some rimfire pistols, you'll want to add a fixed barrel spacer, which locks the booster assembly so it doesn't recoil back and forth.
The O-rings seal and cushion the booster assembly, and they're a wear item that eventually needs replacing on any piston-driven pistol can. This kit includes three packs covering the booster assembly plus M13 and M16 sizes. Having spares on hand means a worn ring never sidelines your suppressor on range day.
