The Savage Axis 2 Pro takes the brand's reputation for affordable accuracy and dresses it up in Mossy Oak Original Bottomland camo. Chambered in .243 Winchester, it rides on a cylindrical action machined from bar stock and feeds from a flush-fitting 4-round detachable box magazine. The .243 is a sweet spot for a lot of folks, flat-shooting, light on recoil, and plenty capable on whitetail, hogs, and coyotes, which makes this a rifle that works just as well for a new hunter as it does for someone looking for a trim, easy-carrying deer gun.
The big story here is the AccuTrigger. It is user-adjustable, so you can tune the pull weight to your liking and get a crisp, clean break instead of the gritty creep you often find at this price point. The 20-inch barrel is spiral-fluted to shed some weight and help with cooling, and it is button-rifled with a 1:9.25 twist that handles the full range of .243 bullet weights. The whole package weighs right around 6.9 pounds, so it balances nicely and doesn't wear you out on a long walk in.
Savage gave the metal a Black Ink Cerakote finish that pairs with the Mossy Oak Original Bottomland synthetic stock, a classic pattern that has been hiding hunters for decades. The stock has an adjustable length of pull, enhanced texturing, and a contoured pistol grip with ambidextrous palm swells, so it fits a wide range of shooters comfortably. The updated bolt handle is oversized and smooth to run, which you'll appreciate when it is cold and wet.
This one ships with a one-piece 0 MOA rail already installed, so mounting your optic is straightforward right out of the box. The muzzle comes threaded 5/8×24 with a thread protector in place, giving you the option to add a brake or run a suppressor down the road. Pair it with a good 3-9x or 4-12x scope and you've got a hunting rig that will punch tight groups without emptying your wallet.
Yes. This Axis 2 Pro comes with a 20-inch spiral-fluted barrel that is factory threaded 5/8×24 at the muzzle. It ships with a thread protector in place, so you can run a muzzle brake or suppressor whenever you're ready.
It comes with a one-piece 0 MOA Picatinny rail already installed on the receiver, which makes mounting an optic simple. It does not include a scope or iron sights, so you'll want to pair it with glass and rings to get it ready for the range.
The .243 Win is a flat-shooting, low-recoil cartridge that is a great all-around choice for whitetail deer, hogs, and varmints like coyotes. The 1:9.25 twist on this Axis 2 Pro stabilizes the common bullet weights well, making it a versatile pick for both newer hunters and anyone who wants a soft-kicking deer rifle.
Yes. The Axis 2 Pro features Savage's user-adjustable AccuTrigger, which lets you tune the pull weight to your preference using the included tool. This gives you a crisp, clean break that helps with accuracy right out of the box.
