Description

Southpaw hunters usually get stuck with leftovers or a wait list, so it's refreshing to see Savage build the 110 Core Hunter in a true left-hand configuration from the ground up. This one's chambered in .243 Winchester, runs a 20-inch threaded barrel, and feeds from a detachable box magazine holding four rounds. It carries Savage's updated AccuFit V2 stock in Flat Dark Gray, which is where this rifle really earns its keep for anyone who's ever felt like a factory gun just didn't quite fit their frame.

Dialing In the 110 Core Hunter's AccuFit V2 Stock

The headline feature here is the AccuFit V2 system, and it's a legitimate upgrade over the older setup. Length of pull and comb height both adjust without tools through a Quick Set Dial, giving you right around an inch of LOP travel in 1/8-inch steps and roughly three-quarters of an inch of comb rise. The rifle also ships with interchangeable grip modules in small, medium, and large so you can tune where your trigger hand sits, with the medium installed from the factory. M-Lok panels on the forend let you hang a bipod or shooting sticks, and the LimbSaver recoil pad takes the edge off what's already a mild-kicking cartridge.

Barrel, Action, and Trigger on the Core Hunter

Savage wrapped the barreled action in a Black Ink Cerakote finish for corrosion resistance, and the carbon steel barrel wears a heavy sporter contour with straight fluting to shed a little weight and help it cool. The muzzle comes threaded, so running a brake or a suppressor is a straightforward job. Up top you get a one-piece 0 MOA rail ready for your optic, and the user-adjustable AccuTrigger lets you set the pull to your liking for clean, predictable breaks. The bolt body is jeweled with a threaded bolt handle if you want to swap in a custom knob down the road.

What the 243 Win Brings to the Field

The .243 has been a dual-purpose favorite since 1955 for good reason. Load it light and it's a flat-shooting varmint and predator round; step up to 90 to 100-grain controlled-expansion bullets and it's plenty capable on deer and antelope inside sensible ranges. Low recoil makes it easy to shoot well, which matters more than raw power for most hunters. At roughly 7.7 pounds bare, this Core Hunter balances nicely once glass is on board.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Savage 110 Core Hunter a true left-hand rifle?

Yes. This SKU (32553) is built as a genuine left-hand model with the bolt and ejection port set up for southpaw shooters. Savage has a long history here, as the Model 110 was the first commercial bolt action offered in a left-hand configuration.

Does the 110 Core Hunter come with a threaded barrel?

It does. The 20-inch fluted carbon steel barrel has a threaded muzzle, so you can add a muzzle brake or suppressor without extra gunsmithing. The threaded bolt handle also lets you swap in a custom knob if you want.

What can I hunt with the .243 Winchester chambering?

The .243 is a true dual-purpose cartridge. With lighter bullets it's excellent on varmints and predators like coyotes and prairie dogs, and with 90 to 100-grain controlled-expansion loads it's a capable deer and antelope round at reasonable distances. Its light recoil makes it one of the easiest centerfires to shoot accurately.

How does the AccuFit V2 stock adjust?

AccuFit V2 uses a toolless Quick Set Dial to change length of pull and comb height, with about an inch of LOP adjustment in 1/8-inch increments and roughly three-quarters of an inch of comb rise. It also comes with small, medium, and large grip modules so you can fine-tune how the rifle fills your hand. The goal is a near-custom fit straight out of a factory rifle.

Is the 110 Core Hunter set up for an optic?

Yes. It ships with a one-piece 0 MOA rail already mounted, so you just need rings and your scope of choice. There are no iron sights on this model, so plan on running glass.
