The Savage 99 is one of those rifles that just refuses to go out of style, but finding good optics hardware for it can feel like a treasure hunt. EGW solves that with a clean, no-nonsense one-piece Picatinny base built specifically for the Model 99. It gives you a modern rail platform on a classic lever action, so you can finally mount the scope and rings you actually want to use.
This one is machined from solid 7075 T6 aircraft grade aluminum and finished in a matte black Type III hardcoat anodize. That combination keeps it tough and corrosion resistant while staying light, tipping the scale at right around 2.5 ounces. The rail runs about 5.882 inches long with a height of roughly .35 inches from the top of the receiver to the top of the Picatinny. A channel milled down the center trims weight without giving up strength.
This is the 0 MOA version, so there's no built-in cant. That makes it a solid pick for standard hunting and range distances where you don't need extra elevation baked into the base. It fits factory drilled and tapped Model 99 receivers with a center spread of 3.76 inches, and EGW recommends measuring your receiver hole spacing before you order to confirm it lines up. The cross slots follow Picatinny spec, so it plays nice with both Picatinny and Weaver style rings.
Installation is straightforward. The base ships with #6-48 x 1/4 screws and a T-10 bit, and EGW calls for 20 inch pounds of torque with a drop of blue thread locker to keep everything locked down under recoil. It's also ambidextrous and quick-disconnect ring compatible, giving you room to set up your optic exactly how you like it. The whole thing, from the screws to the packaging, is made in the USA.

0 MOA means the rail has no built-in forward cant or elevation. Your scope sits level with the bore, which is ideal for typical hunting and range distances where you don't need extra elevation adjustment. If you were reaching way out to long range you might want an angled base, but for a classic 99 the 0 MOA setup is the practical choice.
The cross slots are cut to Picatinny spec, so it's compatible with both Picatinny and Weaver style scope rings. That gives you a huge range of ring options and heights to dial in your scope. It's also quick-disconnect ring compatible if you want to be able to pull your optic on and off.
