The .300 PRC has earned its reputation as one of the best long range hunting cartridges going, and the Savage 110 Pro Pursuit gives it a proper home. Developed with input from hunter and wild game chef Mike Robinson, this rifle was built around one idea: a magnum-class hunting rig that performs like a precision rifle but still carries comfortably on a multi-day hunt. At the center of it all is the proven 110 action with a stainless steel receiver wearing Magpul OD Green Cerakote, plus a fluted bolt with a slick Blackout Cerakote finish and an upgraded bolt head with dual extractors for reliable extraction when conditions turn ugly.
The 20 inch Proof Research carbon fiber wrapped stainless barrel is the headline feature here, and for good reason. You get the stiffness and accuracy of a heavier contour without lugging the weight up the mountain. It comes threaded 5/8×24 with an Omniport muzzle brake installed, so you can tame .300 PRC recoil right out of the box or spin on a suppressor. The shorter barrel also balances well with a can attached, which is exactly how a lot of folks will run this rifle.
The Grayboe Phoenix 2 stock is finished in earth-tone camo with black webbing and gives you an adjustable comb and length of pull, so you can dial in proper eye alignment behind your scope instead of craning your neck. Savage's user-adjustable AccuTrigger lets you set the pull weight from 1.5 to 4 pounds, and flush QD sling cups keep your carry setup clean and snag free.
A factory-installed one piece 20 MOA Picatinny rail means you can mount your optic and get to work, with extra elevation built in for stretching the .300 PRC to its potential. Feeding comes from a 3 round AICS-style magazine seated in a flush one piece magazine frame and trigger guard. Add it all up and you have a legitimate do-it-all rig for elk, mule deer, moose, and any hunt where the shot might be a long one.
You will give up some velocity compared to a 24 or 26 inch tube, but the tradeoff makes sense for a hunting rifle. The 20 inch Proof Research barrel keeps the 110 Pro Pursuit compact and easy to maneuver, especially with a suppressor attached, and the .300 PRC still has plenty of horsepower for elk and other big game at realistic hunting distances.
Yes, the barrel is threaded 5/8×24, which is the standard pitch for most .30 caliber suppressors. Just remove the factory Omniport muzzle brake and thread on your can. The shorter 20 inch barrel keeps overall length manageable once a suppressor is mounted.
It does. Savage installs a one piece 20 MOA Picatinny rail at the factory, so you just need rings and glass. The built-in 20 MOA cant gives you extra elevation adjustment, which comes in handy when you start stretching the .300 PRC out past normal hunting ranges.
The 110 Pro Pursuit feeds from AICS-style detachable box magazines and ships with one 3 round mag. The AICS pattern is one of the most common on the market, so finding spares is easy. The magazine sits flush in a one piece frame and trigger guard for a clean carry profile.
