Description

A .300 Win Mag you can haul into the high country without dreading the hike back out. That is the whole idea behind the Savage 110 Carbon Hunter. Savage wrapped a stainless steel barrel in carbon fiber to shave real weight off the front end while keeping the stiffness that helps a barrel hold its zero shot after shot. The 20 inch tube keeps the whole rig handy in a blind, on horseback, or threading through dark timber, and it comes threaded from the factory so a brake or suppressor bolts right on. Add a can and the overall length still stays manageable, which is a big part of why shorter magnum barrels have caught on with mountain hunters.

Built Around Savage's Proven 110 Action

This rifle is part of the redesigned 110 Trophy line, and the upgrades show. The bolt body is jeweled and runs smooth, the Cerakote finish on the barreled action shrugs off rain and sweat on long pack-outs, and the one piece 0 MOA rail means you can mount a scope the day it comes home. The user adjustable AccuTrigger lets you dial pull weight from 2.5 to 6 pounds with no gunsmith visit, and it breaks clean without the mushy takeup you find on a lot of factory hunting triggers. Feeding comes from a detachable box magazine holding 3 rounds, which is right where you want it for a belted magnum hunting rifle.

Why the Carbon Hunter Handles Recoil So Well

Lightweight magnums have a reputation for beating you up, so Savage put real thought into the back end. The flat dark gray Trophy stock includes a LimbSaver recoil pad that soaks up a serious chunk of felt recoil, and the built in length of pull adjustment lets you fit the stock to your frame or your heavy winter jacket with a few turns of a dial. Fit matters more than most people realize when it comes to managing a .300 Win Mag, and this setup gets you comfortable fast.

Who the 110 Carbon Hunter Suits Best

Elk, moose, mule deer, black bear, this cartridge handles all of it, and this rifle carries it lighter than most. If your hunts involve more walking than sitting, this one earns its spot on your pack.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Savage 110 Carbon Hunter barrel threaded for a suppressor or muzzle brake?

Yes, the 20 inch carbon fiber wrapped barrel comes threaded from the factory. That makes adding a brake or suppressor a simple swap, and the shorter barrel length keeps the rifle from getting unwieldy once a can is attached.

How bad is the recoil on a lightweight .300 Win Mag like this?

Less punishing than you would expect. Savage fitted the Trophy stock with a LimbSaver recoil pad specifically to tame the kick of magnum cartridges in a light rifle, and the adjustable length of pull helps you get proper fit, which goes a long way toward managing recoil. It is still a .300 Win Mag, but it is very shootable for a packable rifle.

Does the 110 Carbon Hunter come ready for a scope?

It does. A one piece 0 MOA Picatinny rail comes installed on the receiver, so you just need rings and glass. No sights are included, which is typical for a hunting rifle in this class since nearly everyone runs an optic.

Can I adjust the trigger on the Savage 110 Carbon Hunter myself?

Yes. Savage's AccuTrigger is user adjustable from 2.5 to 6 pounds with the included tool, no gunsmith needed. It also breaks clean and crisp out of the box, which is one of the reasons the 110 platform has such a strong accuracy reputation.
