Savage packed the 110 Core Tactical with the features precision guys usually end up bolting on later, and this .308 Win version with the 24 inch barrel is the one to grab if you want to squeeze every bit of velocity out of the cartridge. The medium contour, straight fluted carbon steel barrel is threaded at the muzzle for a brake or can, and the barreled action wears a Platinum Cerakote finish that looks sharp against the Coyote Tan stock and holds up to weather a lot better than plain blued steel.
The stock is where this rifle earns its keep. Savage's AccuFit system lets you adjust length of pull and comb height so your cheek weld lands in the same spot every time, and interchangeable grip modules mean you can set the grip angle to match how you shoot. Up front, the beavertail forend carries M-Lok slots along with an integral ARCA rail, so bipods, tripods, and barricade accessories clamp straight on without adapters. Add the one-piece 20 MOA rail up top and you have plenty of elevation left in your scope for stretching .308 past where most factory rifles run out.
Underneath it all is the classic 110 action with a jeweled bolt body, threaded bolt handle with an oversized tactical knob, and the user adjustable AccuTrigger, which you can dial down to a clean, light break without touching a gunsmith. Feeding comes from a 10 round AICS pattern detachable magazine, the same mags used across most of the precision rifle world, so spares are easy to find and cheap to stock up on.
At a little over nine pounds bare, this rifle has enough heft to settle in on target and soak up recoil, but it will not wear you out hauling it from stage to stage. Whether you are getting into PRS style matches, ringing steel on the weekend, or just want a serious bolt gun that does not need upgrades out of the box, this one covers the bases.
Yes. The 24 inch barrel comes threaded from the factory, so you can spin on a suppressor or muzzle brake without a trip to the gunsmith. The medium contour fluted profile also handles the extra weight of a can without throwing off balance as much as a lighter sporter barrel would.
It feeds from AICS pattern detachable box magazines and ships with one 10 rounder. That is the most common precision rifle mag pattern out there, so options from Magpul, MDT, and Accurate-Mag will all run in it. Spares are easy to find and come in different capacities.
You can, and it is one of the best parts of this rifle. The AccuFit system lets you change both length of pull and comb height so you get a consistent cheek weld behind your scope, and the interchangeable grip modules let you tweak the grip feel too. No tools beyond the basics and no aftermarket chassis required.
It sure helps. A 20 MOA canted rail tilts your scope slightly downward, which frees up more elevation adjustment for dialing distant targets. With .308 dropping fast past 600 yards, that extra travel keeps you inside your turret's range instead of running out of clicks.
