Savage took a hard look at what precision rifle folks bolt onto their guns after purchase and built most of it into the 110 Core Tactical from the start. The forend has an integral ARCA rail for tripods and bipods plus M-LOK panels for whatever else you want to hang on it, and the receiver wears a one-piece 20 MOA rail so you can mount a serious scope and still have elevation left for stretching the 6.5 PRC out to where it does its best work. That cartridge is the right match for this rifle too. It pushes high BC bullets fast enough to shrug off wind and stay supersonic well past where a 6.5 Creedmoor starts running out of steam, which makes it a favorite for long range steel and open country hunting alike.
The 24 inch medium contour carbon steel barrel is straight fluted to shed heat during longer strings, button rifled with a 1:8 twist that stabilizes the heavy match bullets 6.5 PRC was built around, and threaded 5/8×24 for a brake or suppressor. The whole barreled action wears Platinum Cerakote for weather resistance, set off by a jeweled black bolt body with a threaded handle and tactical knob. Savage's user adjustable AccuTrigger lets you dial the pull down to something crisp and light without a trip to a gunsmith, and the three position tang safety lets you work the bolt with the safety on.
The Coyote Tan AccuStock with AccuFit V2 gives you adjustable length of pull and comb height, so getting a repeatable cheek weld behind a big scope takes minutes instead of a trip to the parts bin. Interchangeable grip modules let you fine tune hand position, and the wide beavertail forend rides bags and barricades nicely. Feeding comes from a detachable AICS-pattern box magazine holding 7 rounds, so spare mags are easy to find. At around 9.4 pounds bare, it has enough heft to settle in behind the trigger without being a chore to carry to the line.
No sights or optic are included, which is standard for a rifle in this class. It ships with a one-piece 20 MOA rail already mounted on the receiver, so all you need is a scope and rings. The 20 MOA cant gives you extra elevation adjustment for shooting at longer distances.
It feeds from detachable AICS-pattern box magazines and includes one 7-round magazine from the factory. Since AICS is the most common pattern in the precision rifle world, spare mags from makers like MDT and Magpul are easy to track down. Just make sure any spares you buy are sized for the 6.5 PRC family of cartridges.
Yes. The 24 inch fluted barrel is threaded 5/8×24, which is the common thread pitch for most .30 caliber and smaller suppressors and muzzle brakes. A thread protector covers the muzzle when nothing is mounted.
It is one of the better dual purpose cartridges out there. The 6.5 PRC pushes the same high BC bullets as the 6.5 Creedmoor but a couple hundred feet per second faster, which means flatter trajectories, less wind drift, and more energy on target at distance. That makes it a strong pick for elk and deer at longer ranges as well as ringing steel well past 1,000 yards, and the 1:8 twist on this rifle handles the heavy match and hunting bullets the cartridge was designed for.
