Sauer & Sohn has been building rifles in Germany for centuries, and this one pairs their cold hammer-forged barrel and famously slick three-lug bolt with an American-made H-S Precision stock. The result is a 6.5 PRC rifle that shoots like something costing a whole lot more, backed by Sauer's five-shot sub-MOA guarantee.
The 24 inch medium-heavy fluted barrel gives the 6.5 PRC room to stretch its legs, and that cartridge rewards the extra length. Think 6.5 Creedmoor ballistics with a few hundred extra feet per second, built around high-BC bullets like the 143 grain ELD-X and 147 grain ELD Match. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 for a brake or suppressor, and the gray Cerakote finish over the metalwork shrugs off weather and hard field use. Up top, the receiver is drilled and tapped and accepts Remington 700 long action pattern bases, so mounting a scope is about as painless as it gets.
Plenty of folks buy a rifle and immediately spend more money restocking it. Sauer skipped that step for you. The 60 degree bolt throw clears low-mounted optics and cycles fast, the three-position safety lets you unload with the trigger locked, and the detachable double-stack magazine holds four rounds of 6.5 PRC. Whether you're ringing steel past 800 or reaching across a canyon at elk, this rifle is set up to do it well.
The receiver is drilled and tapped and shares its footprint with the Remington 700 long action pattern, so Rem 700 LA bases and one-piece rails are the way to go. That opens up a huge range of mounting options from just about every ring and rail maker out there. No gunsmithing needed, just pick your bases and bolt them on.
Yes, Sauer backs these rifles with a five-shot sub-MOA guarantee, which is more demanding than the three-shot claims most brands make. The cold hammer-forged barrel, aluminum bedding block in the H-S Precision stock, and 1:8 twist stabilizing heavy 6.5mm bullets all work together for repeatable accuracy. With quality factory ammo like 143 grain ELD-X or 147 grain ELD Match, it will hold its own well past 800 yards.
You can. The 24 inch barrel comes threaded 5/8×24, which is the standard pitch for most 30 caliber and 6.5mm suppressors and brakes in the US. A thread protector keeps things clean when you're shooting without a muzzle device.
The 6.5 PRC pushes the same high-BC bullets a few hundred feet per second faster than the Creedmoor, which means a flatter trajectory, less wind drift, and more energy on target at distance. That makes it a great pick for hunting elk and mule deer at longer ranges or stretching out on steel. The trade-off is a bit more recoil and shorter barrel life, but for a dedicated long-range rig the PRC is hard to beat.
