Plenty of companies bolt together short AR pistols. San Tan Tactical machines theirs from the ground up in Arizona, and the STT-15 shows it. The heart of this pistol is the Pillar billet receiver set, cut from 7075-T6 aerospace grade aluminum and hand ground as a serial-matched pair so the upper and lower fit tight with zero slop. On the upper, the bore, barrel nut threads, and receiver extension face are all machined in a single operation, which keeps everything concentric with the barrel. That kind of attention is usually reserved for match rifles, and here it is on a 7.5 inch pistol.
The barrel is machined from 41V50 vanadium steel with a 1:7 twist, threaded 1/2-28 for your muzzle device of choice, and dimpled for proper gas block alignment. Behind it sits San Tan's enhanced bolt carrier group, made from case-hardened 9310 steel, magnetic particle inspected, proof tested, and finished in black nitride. The carrier vents excess gas through three ports, which is a nice touch if you plan on running this one suppressed. The trigger is no afterthought either. San Tan installs a CMC 3.5 lb single stage flat bow trigger from the factory, so the crisp break and short reset are already handled.
The lower is fully ambidextrous, with bolt release and mag release access from either side, plus three QD sling points built right in. Up front, the Midwest Industries Combat Rail gives you a full-length top rail with M-LOK slots all around and two more QD points, so lights, lasers, and hand stops mount wherever you want them. Ships with one 30-round magazine and a black hard anodized finish that matches the workmanship underneath.

Yes. The lower accepts standard STANAG pattern AR-15 and M16 magazines, and the receivers are compatible with mil-spec AR components outside of the included ambidextrous controls. It ships with one 30-round magazine in the box.
