Designed in collaboration with East Coast AK specialist Ken Allen, this 10.5-inch handguard fits most stamped AKM rifles and works with your factory gas tube, so you keep the reliability you trust while gaining a modern mounting platform.
This is the sling loop version, which keeps the traditional sling loop cut intact for owners who prefer running a classic sling setup. It's machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and wears a Type III hardcoat anodized black finish, so it shrugs off the kind of abuse an AK tends to see. The aluminum extrusion keeps the weight down, which matters on a rifle where balance and handling are half the fun.
You get five sides of M-LOK slots for lights, lasers, grips, and hand stops, plus a railed top section ready for an optic straight out of the box. The extended length is a real bonus. It pushes your support hand further out for better control and shields your palm from a hot barrel during longer strings. There's even an extended lip index point so your thumb tells you when it's creeping too close to the gas tube.
Install is refreshingly painless. No gunsmithing needed in most cases, and the adjustable alignment system uses twistable wedges in the receiver block so you can rotate the handguard until it sits dead straight. Depending on your specific rifle, you may need a little minor fitment or filing, which is normal territory with AK builds given how much variance exists across factories and imports.

Yes. The top section is railed so you can mount a red dot or other optic right out of the box. Keep in mind that a rail-mounted optic on an AK handguard sits forward of the receiver, so it works best for red dots and forward-mounted setups rather than magnified scopes.
