The Samson AK-47 M-LOK K-Rail QD handguard is one of the cleaner ways to modernize a stamped AKM without cutting, welding, or handing your rifle over to a gunsmith. Samson teamed up with East Coast AK specialist Ken Allen to design this one, and it shows in the details. You get M-LOK slots on five sides, a full-length railed top section for an optic, and integrated steel QD sockets on both sides for a modern push-button sling. At 10.5 inches, the extended length gives your hand plenty of real estate and keeps it safely away from a barrel that heats up fast during a long range session.
This is the non-sling-loop version, meaning instead of a cut for a traditional loop, Samson built ambidextrous QD points directly into the sides. That's a big deal if you run a two-point or single-point sling and want a solid, rattle-free attachment. The handguard is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum with a Type III hardcoat anodized black finish, so it shrugs off hard use and stays looking sharp while keeping weight low. It works with your factory gas tube and uses the factory handguard retainer, so you're not hunting down extra parts to get it running.
Samson designed the install to be genuinely user friendly. The receiver block uses twistable wedges that let you rotate the handguard for proper alignment, which takes the guesswork out of getting things straight. There's also an extended lip index point so you can feel when your thumb is creeping too close to the gas tube, plus recessed screws to keep you from getting burned. Most stamped AKM rifles accept it as a drop-in, though depending on your particular rifle you may need a little minor fitment or filing to dial it in.
