Big .338 rifles are a blast to shoot until the recoil starts wearing on your shoulder and your groups. Rugged's MB026 3-Port Brake takes their proven three-port design and scales it up for .338 and 8.6mm bores, venting gases out to the sides to knock down felt recoil and keep the muzzle settled between shots. The M18x1 metric thread pattern makes this the go-to version for rifles wearing that European-style thread, so you're not hunting for an adapter to get proper recoil control on your precision or hunting rig.
What separates this from a basic muzzle brake is the Dual Taper Locking System machined into it. That taper interface is the mounting foundation for Rugged's Alaskan360 and Alaskan360Ti suppressors, so the brake stays on your barrel full time and your can locks up tight and repeatable whenever you want it. Running a different suppressor with 1.375×24 threads? Pair this brake with Rugged's R.U.M. universal mount and you're covered there too. Either way, you shoot braked when the can is off and suppressed when it's on, without ever touching a wrench at the range.
Rugged includes timing shims in the package, which matters more than people give it credit for. A brake only works right when the ports are clocked level, and shims let you index it properly without guesswork or crush washers. The steel construction wears a Black Nitride finish that shrugs off corrosion and the abuse that comes with living at the muzzle of a magnum rifle. At around an inch and a half long and just a few ounces, it adds recoil control without turning your barrel into a boat anchor.

It's built around Rugged's Dual Taper Locking System, so it mounts the Alaskan360 and Alaskan360Ti directly. You can also run any suppressor with 1.375×24 threads by adding Rugged's R.U.M. universal mount. It works fine as a standalone brake too if you're not running a can yet.
Timing shims are included in the package, which is what you need to properly clock the ports so they vent level with the bore. You'll want a wrench and some patience, but no crush washers or extra hardware to buy. Torque it to the manufacturer's spec and check your shim stack until the ports index correctly.
This is the M18x1 version, a metric thread common on a number of European precision and hunting rifles chambered in .338. Check your barrel's thread stamp or your rifle's manual before ordering. Rugged makes this same brake in 5/8×24, 3/4×24, and M18x1.5 if your muzzle threads are different.
Yes, that's the main job. The three side ports redirect muzzle gases to fight rearward push and muzzle rise when you're shooting without a suppressor attached. The bore is sized for .338 and 8.6mm projectiles, so it covers both cartridge families as long as your muzzle threads match.
