They took the same design that has worked well on their smaller-caliber mounts and scaled it up for .338 and 8.6 Blackout, giving you a muzzle device that knocks down recoil in a real, noticeable way when you are running the rifle unsuppressed. Machined from steel and finished in Black Nitride, it shrugs off corrosion and wear whether it lives on a range rifle or rides through hunting season in rough weather.
The smart part of this brake is what it does when you are ready to go quiet. It doubles as the mount for Rugged's Alaskan360 and Alaskan360Ti suppressors through their Dual Taper Locking System, which gives you a tight, repeatable lockup with no wobble and no walking loose under fire. Pick up Rugged's R.U.M. (Rugged Universal Mount) and it will also host suppressors with a 1.375×24 thread, so it plays nice with a lot of the big-bore cans on the market. This version threads on at 5/8×24, one of the most common pitches out there, and Rugged includes timing shims in the package so you can index the ports correctly without hunting down a shim kit or crush washer. Take your time getting it clocked right and torqued properly, since good alignment matters for both brake performance and suppressor mounting. If your barrel wears a different thread, Rugged makes this same .338 brake in 3/4×24, M18x1, and M18x1.5 as well.

No, Rugged includes timing shims in the package. Shims let you clock the ports to the correct position with proper torque, which is a cleaner and more repeatable setup than a crush washer, especially on a brake that also serves as a suppressor mount.
