The CCO layout has been a favorite among 1911 fans for decades, and for good reason. Take an Officer-size frame, put a Commander-length slide on top, and you end up with a pistol that hides the part that prints the most while keeping enough barrel and sight radius to shoot well. This TALO edition SR1911 brings that formula to Ruger's lineup in 9mm, with a black anodized aluminum frame under a stainless slide for a sharp bi-tone look that also keeps the weight down where it counts for all-day carry.
Ruger builds the SR1911 series with CNC-machined parts, so the slide-to-frame fit is snug and the slide runs smooth right out of the box. The 4.25-inch barrel locks up positively for solid accuracy, and the 9mm chambering means soft recoil in an already manageable platform. You get a tritium front sight paired with a Novak-style rear night sight, so your sight picture holds up in low light instead of disappearing on you. The desert brown G10 grips are textured enough to stay planted with sweaty hands but not so aggressive they chew up your cover garment, and the flat black trigger gives you that crisp single-action break the 1911 is famous for. Front and rear slide serrations and an extended thumb safety make it easy to run under pressure.
A lot of carry 9mms these days are striker-fired polymer, and there is nothing wrong with that, but plenty of folks still want a metal-framed gun with a real hammer and a trigger that rewards good fundamentals. This one feeds from single-stack 7-round magazines, and Ruger ships two of them so you have a reload on day one. Between the lightweight frame, the night sights, and the G10 grips, there is not much you need to change before this one goes in a holster. CCO stands for Concealed Carry Officer, a classic 1911 configuration that combines a shorter Officer-size frame with a Commander-length slide and barrel.
