Ruger's Street Edition pistols pay tribute to the towns where the company builds its guns, and this one salutes Mayodan, North Carolina, home of the plant at 271 Cardwell Rd. That address is engraved right on top of the slide, flanked by a bald eagle and the Ruger logo cut into the low-glare stainless steel on both sides. Production is capped at 500 units total, so once these are gone, they're gone. The green and black deluxe checkered G10 grip panels tie the whole look together against the black anodized frame, and the two-tone contrast photographs even better in person.
Underneath the engraving, this is the same Commander-style SR1911 that earned its reputation as one of the best values in production 1911s. The 4.25 inch barrel rides in a slide fitted by CNC machining for smooth travel and consistent lock-up, and the lightweight aluminum frame brings the whole pistol in at a very carryable 29.3 ounces. A polished titanium feed ramp helps it run hollow points without fuss, while the skeletonized trigger breaks clean with a short, positive reset. The skeletonized hammer and titanium firing pin speed up lock time, and the oversized beavertail, extended thumb safety, and extended magazine release make the controls easy to run under speed.
Drift-adjustable Novak 3-dot sights give you a proven sight picture that holds zero, and the rear slide serrations plus flat mainspring housing keep your grip locked in. A visual inspection port lets you confirm chamber status at a glance. Since it's built on the standard SR1911 pattern, it accepts most common aftermarket 1911 parts and drops into holsters cut for Commander-length guns. Each pistol ships with two stainless steel 7-round magazines and a bushing wrench for takedown. Whether this one ends up in the safe as a numbered piece of Ruger history or earns its keep at the range, it can handle either job without breaking a sweat.

It shoots just like any other SR1911, which is to say very well. The CNC-fitted slide, positive barrel lock-up, crisp skeletonized trigger, and Novak 3-dot sights make it a capable range gun, and at 29.3 ounces the aluminum frame keeps it light in the hand. Plenty of buyers will tuck one away unfired, but there's no reason it can't earn its keep at the range.
Yes. It's built on the standard 1911 pattern and accepts most common aftermarket 1911 parts and accessories. Any holster cut for a Commander-length 4.25 inch barrel 1911 should fit it fine, and standard single-stack .45 ACP 1911 magazines will run in it as well.
