Built on the proven M77 Hawkeye action, this 6.5 Creedmoor pairs old-school craftsmanship with the features long-range hunters ask for today: a factory-installed 20 MOA Picatinny rail secured with four 8-40 screws, a 5/8×24 threaded muzzle with thread protector, and a free-floated, cold hammer-forged stainless barrel with 5R rifling. The 1:8 twist stabilizes everything from light 120 grain pills to the heavy 140s that made the Creedmoor famous.
The non-rotating Mauser-type extractor gives you controlled round feed, one of the most reliable extraction systems ever put in a bolt rifle, and the fixed blade ejector kicks empties clear every time you run the bolt fully rearward. The three-position safety lets you cycle the action with the safety engaged, which is a nice touch when unloading at the truck. And when it is time to unload, the hinged solid-steel floorplate dumps the magazine without cycling every round through the chamber. The LC6 trigger breaks clean out of the box, and independent range testing of this platform has consistently produced groups right around an inch or better at 100 yards with quality factory ammo.
The satin stainless metalwork shrugs off weather that would give a blued gun fits, while the American walnut stock keeps the rifle looking like a proper hunting rifle instead of a plastic tool. Sling swivel studs come standard, and at 7.2 pounds bare, it carries comfortably on long walks into the backcountry. With a 42-inch overall length and 13.5-inch length of pull, it handles well in a blind or shouldered quickly on a ridgeline. No iron sights or rings are included, but it ships with a 20 MOA Picatinny rail already mounted to the receiver with four 8-40 screws. That means you can use standard Picatinny rings in whatever height and tube diameter fits your scope, and the 20 MOA cant gives you extra elevation for stretching the 6.5 Creedmoor out to longer distances.
Yes, the 22-inch stainless barrel is threaded 5/8×24, which is the standard pattern for most 6.5mm and .30 caliber suppressors and muzzle devices. Ruger includes a thread protector from the factory, so the muzzle stays clean-looking when you're running it bare.
The free-floated, cold hammer-forged barrel with 5R rifling and the crisp LC6 trigger set this rifle up well for precision work. Published range testing on this platform has shown five-shot groups averaging around an inch at 100 yards across multiple factory loads, with some groups under three quarters of an inch. That's plenty of accuracy for big game well past 400 yards with a hunter who does their part.
