The RXM is a genuine collaboration between Ruger and Magpul, not just a branding arrangement. The serialized part of the gun is a removable stainless steel Fire Control Insert (FCI) that lives inside an interchangeable Magpul Enhanced Handgun Grip module. That means you can swap grip frames without replacing the gun itself, similar in concept to what SIG did with the P320. The FDE grip on this model gives it a sharp two-tone look paired with the black FNC nitride slide, and the whole package is made in the USA.
The Magpul EHG is genuinely one of the nicest things about this pistol. It features Magpul's 3/4-scale TSP texture across the front strap, back strap, side panels, and indexing pads, plus an undercut trigger guard and beavertail that let you ride the gun high for better recoil control. The flared magwell speeds up reloads, and the extended magazine release and raised slide stop make manipulation easy without being overly aggressive. People who have never loved the Gen 3 Glock grip tend to find the RXM fits their hand a lot better.
The 4-inch alloy steel barrel wears a black FNC nitride finish for corrosion resistance, and the optic-ready slide directly mounts RMR, Delta Point Pro, and RMSc footprint optics with no adapter plate required. The co-witness-height sights are steel, with a tritium insert up front so you have a usable sight picture in low light whether or not you mount a red dot. The flat-faced trigger offers a smooth, consistent pull with a tactile reset, and since the platform is built around Gen 3 Glock compatibility, there is already a massive aftermarket catalog of triggers, sights, holsters, and other parts that fit.
This pistol fits well for carry, home defense, or competition use. It is legal in IDPA Stock Service Pistol and Carry Optics divisions, and USPSA Production, Limited Optics, and Carry Optics. The included Magpul PMAG GL9 mags are also compatible with most Glock-pattern magazines, so if you already have 9mm Glock mags in your safe, they will likely feed just fine.
Yes. The RXM is designed around Gen 3 Glock compatibility, and the included Magpul PMAG GL9 magazines also work in Glock 19-pattern pistols. Most Gen 3 and newer Glock-compatible 9mm magazines will feed reliably in the RXM, which gives you access to one of the deepest magazine ecosystems in the handgun world.
The slide is machined for direct mounting of Trijicon RMR, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, and Shield RMSc footprint optics with no adapter plate needed. This is a real advantage over the Glock MOS system, which uses plastic adapter plates that can introduce fitment issues. The co-witness-height tritium front sight stays usable with or without a red dot mounted.

It is a flat-faced striker-fired trigger with a smooth pull and a tactile reset. Most hands-on reviewers put it in the same league as a Gen 5 Glock trigger or slightly better than a standard Gen 3, with a reasonably clean break and predictable reset. The entire Gen 3 Glock aftermarket of drop-in trigger components is broadly compatible if you want to upgrade down the road.
