Plenty of blacked-out lever guns look the same once they hit the rack. The Rossi R95 Black Bear is the one people stop and pick up. Bear claw scratch engraving rakes across the black stock, and a small bear paw is stamped just below the ejection port. It is a special edition built on the R95 Triple Black platform, so you get all the modern features that made that rifle a hit, wrapped in a package with some personality.
The 16.5 inch barrel is threaded 5/8×24, so adding a suppressor or muzzle device is as simple as spinning one on. Up top, a Picatinny rail carries a peep rear sight paired with a drift adjustable front, and that same rail makes mounting a red dot or scout scope quick work. The large loop lever comes wrapped in paracord, which sounds like a small thing until you run the action fast with cold hands or gloves on. Feeding is handled by a five round tubular magazine chambered in 30-30 Win, a cartridge that has been dropping deer and hogs inside 200 yards for well over a century.
At 35.5 inches overall and right around six and a half pounds, this rifle carries easy and swings fast in thick cover. The R95 platform draws its design from the classic Marlin 336 pattern, so the action feels familiar and the side ejection keeps the top of the receiver clear for optics. Black oxide covers the alloy steel barrel and receiver for a low-glare, weather-friendly finish that matches the working nature of the gun.
The R95 line earned its reputation as one of the better values in modern lever actions, and the Black Bear edition adds a detail package you will not find on every rifle at the range. Whether it becomes your brush gun, your cabin rifle, or the lever action you finally put a can on, this one does the job and looks good doing it.
Mechanically they are the same rifle, so you get the threaded 16.5 inch barrel, Picatinny rail with peep sight, and paracord-wrapped large loop lever. The Black Bear is a special edition that adds bear claw scratch engraving across the black stock and a bear paw stamp below the ejection port. It is a looks and character upgrade on an already proven platform.
Yes. The 16.5 inch barrel comes threaded in the common 5/8×24 pitch, so most 30 caliber suppressors and muzzle devices will spin right on. Just check that your can is rated for 30-30 Win pressures, and you are set.
You can, and easily. The receiver wears a Picatinny rail that holds the included peep sight, and it accepts red dots, LPVOs, and scout-style scopes with standard mounts. Since the R95 ejects from the side, the rail placement works well without interfering with the action.
It holds five rounds of 30-30 Win in the tubular magazine under the barrel. Add one in the chamber and you are carrying six total. That is plenty for deer, hogs, and general brush gun duty where the 30-30 has earned its keep for generations.
