The Rossi Brawler does two things and does them well: it fires .45 Colt and .410 shotshells (both 2.5 and 3 inch) through a 9 inch rifled barrel, all wrapped up in a break-action pistol that weighs just under 37 ounces. That combination makes it a natural fit for the garden, the trapline, or a backpack when you want something along for snakes and pests without hauling a full-size handgun rig you built yourself. Operation could not be simpler. Press the release, break the action open, drop in a round, close it up, cock the hammer, and fire. An ejector kicks the spent case clear when you pop the action back open, which is a nice touch at this end of the market. The steel receiver wears a polymer overmold that shrugs off weather, and the oversized rubber grip, borrowed from the same family as the Taurus Raging series, soaks up recoil from mild birdshot all the way to 3 inch .410 magnum loads. Up top you get a fixed front sight and a full-length aluminum Picatinny rail with an integrated rear sight built in. Slap a micro red dot on there and the Brawler turns into a legitimately accurate little pistol with .45 Colt, thanks to the 6-groove, 1:24 twist rifling. Independent range testing has shown it capable of stacking .45 Colt loads into tight, overlapping groups, which is more than most folks expect from a budget single shot.

Absolutely, and it is one of the best upgrades you can make to this pistol. The factory aluminum Picatinny rail runs along the top of the barrel and accepts micro red dots and other rail-mounted optics without any gunsmithing. There is also an integrated rear sight built into the rail if you prefer to run irons.
