Description

There's not much on the market quite like the Rossi Brawler in .300 Blackout. It takes the old-school break-action single shot formula, shrinks it into a 14-inch handgun, and chambers it for one of the most versatile rifle cartridges around. The pairing makes more sense than you might think. The .300 Blackout was designed to burn its powder in short barrels, so the Brawler's 9-inch tube gives up very little compared to a full-length carbine. Load it with supersonics for hunting punch or subsonics for quiet work behind a can.

Built for Suppressors and Optics

The alloy steel barrel wears 5/8×24 threading under a knurled thread protector, which happens to be the standard pattern for most .30 caliber suppressors. Since it's a closed single-shot action with no cycling to worry about, the Brawler makes one of the quietest suppressor hosts you'll find, especially with subsonic loads. Up top, a 4-inch aluminum Picatinny rail handles red dots, long eye relief scopes, or whatever glass suits your style. The 1:8 twist, 6-groove rifling stabilizes a wide range of bullet weights.

Running the Rossi Brawler

Operation takes about five seconds to learn. Thumb the release, break the action open, drop in a round, snap it shut. Cock the exposed hammer, push off the crossbolt safety, and press the crisp single-action trigger. The extractor lifts spent brass clear of the chamber for easy removal. A steel receiver wrapped in a polymer shell keeps things rugged, while the finger-grooved soft rubber grip and textured forend soak up recoil better than you'd expect from a rifle-caliber handgun. At 48.5 ounces unloaded, it has enough heft to stay pleasant to shoot.

Where the Brawler Earns Its Keep

This is the kind of gun that ends up doing a bit of everything. It rides well in a backpack or behind a truck seat, doubles as a fun range gun, and gives handgun hunters an affordable way into rifle-caliber pistol territory for deer, hogs, and coyotes. Simple, tough, and refreshingly different from everything else in the case.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Rossi Brawler .300 Blackout come with iron sights?

No, this .300 Blackout version skips the fixed sights found on the .45 Colt/.410 Brawler. Instead, it comes with a 4-inch aluminum Picatinny rail up top so you can mount a red dot, long eye relief scope, or handgun hunting optic. Given the range this cartridge is capable of, most owners run some form of glass on it anyway.

Is the Brawler a good suppressor host?

It's one of the better ones out there. The 5/8×24 muzzle threading matches most .30 caliber cans, and since the break action is fully closed at ignition, there's no action noise or gas blowback like you get from semi-autos. Pair it with subsonic .300 Blackout loads and it gets remarkably quiet.

Does a 9-inch barrel waste the .300 Blackout cartridge?

Not at all, and that's the beauty of this pairing. The .300 Blackout was specifically engineered to reach peak performance out of short barrels, so a 9-inch tube loses very little compared to a carbine. Both supersonic hunting loads and subsonic suppressor loads run just fine from this length.

Can you hunt with the Rossi Brawler in .300 Blackout?

Yes, it makes a capable handgun hunting rig with supersonic ammo. With a suitable optic mounted, it has the accuracy and energy for deer, hogs, and coyotes at reasonable handgun hunting distances. The single-shot format also adds a fun challenge that a lot of hunters appreciate.
