The 16 inch fluted stainless steel barrel is cryogenically treated and spun at a 1:10 twist, and the fluting trims weight while helping the barrel shed heat during long strings. Up front, Rock River caps the 1/2×36 threaded muzzle with their mini brake, which takes the little bit of 9mm bounce and flattens it out for faster follow ups on steel. This is the BT9G version of the R9, which runs Glock 17 pattern double stack 9mm magazines. The billet lower has a flared magwell designed around them for fast reloads. One 17-round Glock-compatible magazine comes in the box, and aftermarket options from Magpul, ETS, and Glock themselves are cheap and easy to find.
No, it ships optic ready with no sights installed. The flattop upper and the rail sections on the handguard give you plenty of real estate for a red dot, LPVO, or backup irons. Most PCC competitors drop a red dot on it and go.
It uses a simple blowback action, which is the standard setup for 9mm AR carbines. Blowback guns have fewer parts to fuss with and tend to run reliably across a wide range of ammo. Yes. The barrel is threaded 1/2×36, which is the common thread pitch for 9mm AR barrels, so you can replace the factory mini brake with a different brake, compensator, or a blast diverter. Just make sure whatever you pick up is cut for 1/2×36 and not the 1/2×28 pitch used on most 5.56 rifles.
