Description

Rock River Arms has been building ARs in Illinois since the early 90s, and the LAR-15M Assurance-M shows what that experience gets you. This is a complete, ready-to-run 5.56 carbine that skips the bare-bones treatment most factory rifles get. The 16 inch chrome moly lightweight barrel wears a 1:8 twist, which stabilizes everything from cheap 55 grain plinking ammo up to heavier 69 and 77 grain match loads. It runs a carbine-length gas system under a low-profile gas block, and the muzzle is threaded 1/2-28 with an A2 flash hider installed, so swapping in a different muzzle device down the road is simple.

The Trigger Sets This Assurance-M Apart

Here is the part that matters most once you start putting rounds downrange. RRA installs their two-stage Ultra Match trigger from the factory, and it is a genuine upgrade over the gritty mil-spec triggers found in most carbines at this level. A light first stage and a clean break make it a lot easier to shoot tight groups, and it is one of the first things people notice when they pick this rifle up. Combine that with the forged LAR-15M lower and forged A4 upper, and you have a solid foundation that does not need any immediate work.

Ready to Run: Sights, Rail, and Furniture

The Assurance-M ships with RRA polymer NSP flip-up front and rear sights already mounted, so there is no scrambling for an optic before your first range trip. The mid-length lightweight quad rail gives you real estate for lights, lasers, or a sling mount wherever you want them. Out back, the six-position Operator CAR stock adjusts for different builds and layers of clothing, and the Hogue rubber grip stays comfortable and tacky even with sweaty hands. At around 7 pounds and 33 inches overall, it carries and handles easily whether you are working drills, walking a property line, or just burning through a case of ammo on a Saturday.

Each rifle comes with one 30 round magazine and an RRA carrying case, which is a nice touch you will not find with every AR on the shelf.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the Rock River Arms LAR-15M Assurance-M shoot both 5.56 NATO and .223 Remington?

Yes. The Assurance-M is chambered for 5.56x45mm NATO, which means it safely handles both 5.56 NATO and .223 Remington ammunition. That gives you flexibility to shoot whatever is cheapest or most available without any concerns.

What kind of trigger comes in the AR1910, and is it worth caring about?

It ships with Rock River's two-stage Ultra Match trigger, and it makes a real difference. Most factory carbines come with heavy, gritty mil-spec triggers that people end up replacing. This one has a light take-up and a crisp break from the factory, which helps a lot with accuracy and is one of the biggest reasons to pick this rifle over similarly priced options.

What bullet weights work best with the 1:8 twist barrel?

The 1:8 twist is a great middle-ground rate that handles a wide spread of bullet weights. Standard 55 grain ball ammo shoots fine for plinking, and it will also stabilize heavier 62, 69, and 77 grain loads if you want to stretch its legs or run match ammunition. It is one of the more versatile twist rates you can get in a 16 inch AR.

Can I add a suppressor or different muzzle device to the Assurance-M carbine?

The barrel is threaded 1/2-28, which is the standard thread pitch for 5.56 muzzle devices, and it comes with an A2 flash hider installed. Swapping to a muzzle brake, comp, or suppressor mount is a straightforward job with the right tools.
