The VRPF-14 takes the proven action from Rock Island's full-size VRPA40 pump shotgun and shrinks it down to something you can stash just about anywhere. With a 14.1 inch barrel and an overall length right around 26 inches, this 12 gauge pump action firearm trades the buttstock for a polymer F-grip, giving you serious payload in a package that maneuvers through tight spaces the way a full-length gun never could.
What sets this one apart from most compact scatterguns is the detachable box magazine. Because there is no tube under the barrel, capacity is not tied to barrel length. The included 5-round magazine keeps things trim, and since the whole VR series shares magazines, you can step up to the 9 or 19-round options when it is time to burn through a case of birdshot at the range. Reloads are a mag swap instead of thumbing shells one at a time, which is a big part of why these mag-fed guns have built such a following.
The 3 inch chamber handles everything from light 2-3/4 inch target loads up to full-power 3 inch magnums, and the pump action cycles it all without depending on gas pressure. A crossbolt safety sits where your trigger finger expects it, and the included flip-up front and rear sights get you on target quick. There is Picatinny rail up top for a red dot or laser, plus additional rail space on the handguard for a light. Front and rear sling mounts and the included forend strap round out the setup, and that strap earns its keep by giving your support hand solid purchase when you are working the action on stouter loads.

It ships with a 5-round magazine and accepts any of the interchangeable VR series magazines, including the 9-round and 19-round versions. If you already own a VR80, VR60, or VRPA40, your mags will run in this one too. That cross-compatibility is one of the biggest perks of the VR lineup.
This model is pump action. Rock Island also makes the VRF14, which looks nearly identical but runs a semi-auto action. The pump setup on the VRPF-14 cycles any load you feed it regardless of power level, since it does not rely on gas pressure to function.
