The RIX Stride ST3 Lite is a compact thermal imaging monocular built for folks who want a real scanner without lugging around a brick. At its core sits a 384×288 sensor with a 12-micron pixel pitch and a sub-20mK NETD rating, which is a fancy way of saying it picks up tiny temperature differences and turns them into a clean, high-contrast picture. Paired with a 15mm F1.0 objective and a fast 50Hz refresh rate, the image stays smooth when you pan across a field or track something on the move. The 1024×768 OLED display keeps everything sharp, and you get detection out to roughly 780 meters, about 852 yards, on a man-sized heat signature.
Weight is where this one earns its keep. At just 6.7 ounces, the ST3 Lite rides comfortably in a jacket pocket or off the front of a helmet, and with true 1x base magnification it keeps your natural depth perception intact when you're walking around with it mounted. Bump the digital zoom up through 6x when you want to get a closer read on whatever you spotted. Six color palettes, including white hot, black hot, and a few monochrome options, let you dial in whatever contrast works best for your eyes and the conditions.
The Stride ST3 Lite plays nice with RIX's LRF-01 Bluetooth Rangefinder, so you can add precise distance readings to your scan when you want them. The monocular itself handles the detection and observation duties, and the rangefinder pairs in when knowing the yardage matters.
RIX gave the ST3 Lite an IP67 rating, so dust, rain, and rough weather aren't going to shut you down. It runs on a swappable 18650 battery for around 4 hours per cell, and you can keep it going with external 5V USB-C power if you're set up for it. There's 32GB of onboard memory for photo and video recording, plus Wi-Fi streaming to the companion app when you want to share what you're seeing or review footage later. Backed by a 5-year warranty, it's a lot of thermal for a grab-and-go package.
The ST3 Lite itself is a thermal monocular focused on detection and observation. RIX offers the separate LRF-01 Bluetooth Rangefinder that pairs with the unit when you want distance readings added to your setup. If yardage matters for your use, plan on grabbing that accessory alongside it.

The 15mm F1.0 lens gives a detection range of about 780 meters, or 852 yards, on a roughly man-sized heat source. Keep in mind detection range is not the same as identification range, so you'll pick out a warm object well before you can tell exactly what it is. The 384×288 sensor and sub-20mK sensitivity help keep that image clear even through fog or light cover.
It runs on a single replaceable 18650 battery, giving you around 4 hours of runtime per cell at normal temperatures. Since the batteries swap out, you can carry spares and keep going all night. You can also power it externally through the 5V USB-C port if you have a power bank handy.
