Single shot .410s used to be bare bones farm guns. The Retay Gamelander is a different animal. This is a purpose-built turkey gun in a break action package, wearing Mossy Oak Bottomland camo on an adjustable synthetic stock with a matte black barrel and receiver. At around 6.7 pounds with a 22 inch barrel and 38 inch overall length, it carries easy and swings quick in tight timber, which is exactly where a .410 turkey setup shines with modern TSS loads.
The .410 Gamelander comes with a drilled and tapped receiver and includes Retay's ultra low profile Picatinny rail, so you can bolt on a red dot without hunting down extra hardware. That low rail height keeps your cheek weld natural instead of forcing you to float your head off the stock. If you'd rather run it plain, the brass bead up front handles the basics just fine.
Retay deep drills the Gamelander's barrel from high grade steel and lengthens the forcing cone at the factory, which helps smooth out patterns and squeeze more consistency out of dense turkey loads. On the back end, the AIRY recoil pad uses an internal air pocket design to soak up recoil, and the adjustable length of pull and cheek piece let you fit the gun to your frame or shorten it up for a smaller hunter. A hammer block safety keeps the hammer off the firing pin unless the trigger is deliberately pulled.
The quick take-down action breaks the gun in half for easy transport in a truck, ATV bag, or backpack, and there is not much to go wrong mechanically with a break action. Pair it with a tight turkey choke and quality TSS shells, top it with a compact red dot, and you have a light, soft-shooting rig that is just as at home in a kid's hands as it is riding on your shoulder into a spring morning.
Yes, and it is one of the best parts of this gun. The .410 Gamelander receiver comes drilled and tapped from the factory and includes Retay's low profile Picatinny rail, so most micro red dots bolt right on. The low rail height keeps your cheek weld natural when you get behind the optic.
That is exactly what Retay built it for. With modern TSS turkey loads, a .410 delivers dense, lethal patterns at realistic hunting distances while producing very little recoil. The 22 inch barrel, lengthened forcing cone, Bottomland camo, and optics ready receiver make it a ready-made spring turkey rig.
It is a great fit for them. The stock has an adjustable length of pull and cheek piece, so you can size it down for a younger hunter and stretch it back out as they grow. Between the light .410 recoil and the AIRY air pocket recoil pad, it is about as comfortable as a turkey gun gets.
It uses a quick take-down break action design, so the barrel separates from the stock and receiver in seconds without tools. That makes it easy to stow in a pack, truck, or compact case. Reassembly is just as fast when you get to your spot.
