The Reptilia Socket started life as a request from a military end user group that wanted a sling attachment with no bulk, no noise, and nothing hanging off the rifle to catch on gear. What they got is one of the cleanest M-LOK sling loops on the market. It bolts directly to any M-LOK handguard using a single slot, and the flexible cable loop gives you a spot to run non-QD sling hardware without the hard edges and protrusions you see on a lot of other mounts.
Instead of a rigid metal loop, the Socket uses a PVC-coated 304 stainless steel cable with a 7×7 construction and swaged, ground ball shank ends. That cable flexes out of the way when you don't need it and lays flat against the rail, which is a big part of why this thing snags on so little. It plays nice with standard sling hooks and non-QD loops, so most two-point and single-point setups will drop right in.
The body is machined from a single piece of billet 7075-T6 aluminum and finished with a MIL-STD Type III, Class 2 hardcoat anodize in Flat Dark Earth. That combination shrugs off wear, holds up to weather, and matches the FDE builds it tends to end up on. The whole unit tips the scales right around 12 grams, so you're not adding any real weight to the front of the gun.
Guys tend to run this at the forward position of the handguard, where it opens up multiple points of contact for a steadier hold in standing and braced positions. The Socket is built for non-QD sling setups, so standard sling hooks and loops attach right to the cable. It works well with single-point and two-point slings, and folks have run loop-style hardware like a U-loop on it without issue. If you specifically need quick-detach, Reptilia makes a separate Socket QD version.
It only needs a single M-LOK slot, which is part of why it stays so compact on the rail. That leaves you plenty of room for lights, grips, and other accessories along the rest of the handguard.
Most people run it toward the forward end of the handguard, which sets up a natural sling angle and gives you extra points of contact when shooting from standing or braced positions. That said, it can go anywhere along the M-LOK rail depending on how you carry and manipulate the rifle. Just make sure it clears any other gear you have mounted up front.
