The Reptilia Handguard in 15-inch M-LOK and Flat Dark Earth is a purpose-built forend for AR-15 and M4-pattern rifles, and it does things a little differently than the wedge-and-clamp rails most folks are used to. Instead of fussing with barrel nut timing, it uses a proprietary barrel nut paired with a turnbuckle that draws everything tight and true. The result is a lockup with no flex or shift, which matters a lot when you've got a laser or optic mounted out on the rail and you need it to hold zero.
This one is CNC-machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and finished in MIL-STD Type III hardcoat anodizing, so it shrugs off wear and weather without adding bulk. The 15-inch length runs long and slim, giving you plenty of real estate for a support-hand grip out front or a full accessory layout. Anti-rotation tabs index off the upper receiver to keep the rail aligned over the long haul, and at right around 12.6 ounces it stays light for its size.
You get M-LOK slots along the sides and bottom plus a full-length Picatinny top rail, so mounting optics, backup irons, lights, lasers, and even thermals is straightforward. It's compatible with all M4 upper receivers, which makes it a clean upgrade whether you're assembling a fresh build or refreshing an older one.
The kit ships with the barrel nut and hardware, and Reptilia includes a dedicated Barrel Nut and Turnbuckle Wrench machined from 304 stainless with the torque specs laser-engraved right on the tool. Barrel nut torques to 50 ft-lbs, the turnbuckle nut goes hand-tight with red thread locker, and the wrench handles the 1-1/4" and 1/4" drives with a 3/8" socket port for your torque wrench. It's a repeatable install that home builders and shop pros will both appreciate. Made in the USA and backed by a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
It skips the usual barrel nut timing and wedge or clamp setup in favor of a proprietary barrel nut and turnbuckle system. You torque the barrel nut to 50 ft-lbs, then draw the turnbuckle nut hand-tight with red thread locker to pull everything into a solid, aligned lockup. Anti-rotation tabs that index off the upper receiver keep it from shifting over time.
Reptilia includes a dedicated 304 stainless Barrel Nut and Turnbuckle Wrench with the handguard, and it has the torque specs laser-engraved right on it. It uses a 1-1/4" drive for the barrel nut and a 1/4" drive for the turnbuckle, plus a 3/8" socket port so you can run it with a standard torque wrench. Beyond that you'll just want your own torque wrench to hit spec.
It's built to work with all M4 upper receivers, so it drops onto the vast majority of standard AR-15 builds. Just make sure your barrel profile clears the inner diameter of the rail like you would with any free-float handguard. The included barrel nut is part of the system, so you'll be swapping to Reptilia's nut rather than reusing your old one.
You've got M-LOK slots running along the sides and bottom plus a full-length Picatinny rail across the top. That gives you room for optics, backup irons, lights, lasers, thermals, hand stops, and support-hand grips. The 15-inch length leaves plenty of space to spread accessories out or reach further forward for a longer hold.
