The Core-Lokt line has been trusted by hunters for decades, and Remington adapted this proven projectile design specifically for the .357 Magnum revolver. The 180-grain jacketed hollow point hits the sweet spot for handgun hunting, delivering the heavier bullet weight that experienced revolver hunters prefer without sacrificing the consistency you need in the field.
The Core-Lokt bullet is engineered with a lead core bonded to a copper jacket, designed to expand consistently across different velocities. That means whether you're shooting from a short-barrel snubnose or a full-length 6-inch barrel, you get predictable terminal performance. The 180-grain weight gives you the mass needed for deeper penetration on larger game while the hollow point design initiates reliable expansion on impact.
This isn't a rifle load squeezed into a handgun cartridge. Remington engineered this load specifically for the velocities you get from a handgun barrel, which means it functions the way it should when launched at around 1090 feet per second. That tuning matters when you're counting on consistent performance in a hunting situation.
The nickel plating isn't just for looks. It provides a slicker case surface that feeds more smoothly through revolver chambers and resists corrosion in any weather condition. After a long day in the field or sitting in storage, you can trust these rounds will chamber and function when you need them.
Yes, Core-Lokt .357 Magnum ammunition fires in any firearm chambered for .357 Magnum, whether it's a revolver or a semi-automatic pistol. The 180-grain load is designed specifically for handgun velocities, so it performs well across the range of handgun platforms that use this cartridge.
Absolutely. The 180-grain bullet weight is popular among handgun hunters because it provides excellent penetration while still delivering reliable expansion from hollow point design. This weight works well on deer and similar-sized game when fired from standard revolver barrels.
Nickel plating makes the case surface smoother, which improves feeding reliability in revolver cylinders and semi-auto actions. It also resists corrosion much better than standard brass, so your ammo stays in better condition over time whether stored or used in wet hunting conditions.
.357 Magnum ammunition is longer and will not chamber in a .38 Special firearm. However, you can fire .38 Special ammunition in a .357 Magnum revolver if you need a lower-recoil option for practice or carry.
