This is EGW's heavy-duty Picatinny rail built for the Remington 700, 722, and 40x short action receivers. It's machined from a solid block of 7075 T6 aircraft-grade aluminum and finished in a two-stage hardcoat anodizing, so it shrugs off recoil, weather, and years of handling. The full-length cross slots are cut to true Picatinny spec, which means you can slide your rings exactly where you need them for proper eye relief and still have room for a level, a bubble, or other accessories.
The 30 MOA built-in angle tilts the front of your scope down, which forces you to dial up and effectively banks extra elevation for reaching way out there. For long-range work in the 1000 to 1500 yard range, that extra travel keeps you from bottoming out your turret before you get to distance. If most of your shooting lives inside a few hundred yards, a 0 or 20 MOA base is usually the friendlier pick, but if you built this rifle to stretch its legs, 30 MOA is right in the pocket. Just make sure your scope has enough internal elevation to still reach a 100 yard zero.
The bolt pattern matches short action Remington 700 rifles like your .223 and .308 builds, along with the 722 and 40x. It also works on several short action rigs from Bergara, CVA, Christensen Arms, and the Ultimate Muzzleloader. Worth noting, this is a Remington 700 pattern rail, so it will not fit a Howa 1500 or Weatherby Vanguard. Both sides are beveled, making it fully ambidextrous.
EGW ships this one with multiple screw types so you can match the right hardware to your specific receiver, plus a T-10 bit to get you going.
