This EGW HD rail spans the full length of the receiver in a single piece of 7075-T6 aircraft grade aluminum, which means no worrying about two bases losing alignment with each other over time or under recoil. It's finished in a matte black hardcoat anodizing that holds up to weather, scratches, and general abuse in the field.
This rail is cut to the long action bolt pattern shared by the Remington 700, 722, 40X, and the older 721 and 725 models, so it drops right onto any of these receivers. It also carries over to other rifles built on the same long action footprint, including Bergara B14 and Premier long actions, Christensen Arms long actions, Mauser M18, and Sauer 100/101. One thing worth knowing up front: even though the Howa 1500 and Weatherby Vanguard share a similar bolt pattern, the ejection port and receiver dimensions are different enough that this mount will not sit right on those actions.
This version comes with 0 MOA of built-in elevation, which is the right call for most hunting rifles and general-purpose long action calibers like .270 Win, .30-06, 7mm Rem Mag, and .300 Win Mag where you're working inside 500 yards and don't need extra elevation dialed into the base itself. EGW recommends torquing the screws to 20 in-lbs and adding a drop of blue thread locker to keep everything snug under recoil. The mount is beveled on both sides so it works equally well for right- and left-handed builds, and the full-length cross slots give you plenty of flexibility for scope ring placement or adding accessories.
