Description
The Recover Tactical CC3H04 is a two-piece polymer grip that wraps around your standard-frame 1911 and gives it something it never came with from the factory: a full-length Picatinny rail. If you've got an older Colt, a GI-style pistol, or a full-size 1911 with a slick dust cover, this is the simplest way to hang a weapon light or laser off the front without sending the gun off for machine work. The whole thing is built from the same glass-reinforced polymer that plenty of major handgun makers use for their frames, so it holds up to real range time and won't chew up your finish.
Getting the CC3H04 Onto Your 1911
Installation is about as easy as it gets. You back out your existing grip screws, set the two halves onto the frame, snug the grips down with your original hardware, then tighten the two supplied Allen screws that lock the rail and trigger guard section together. Most folks have it done in well under ten minutes with nothing more than the included hex key. Since it uses your factory grip screws and clamps on rather than requiring any permanent changes, it's a solid pick for updating a gun you'd rather keep original.
What the Gray Polymer Rail Setup Adds
The rail itself is a true MIL-STD-1913 pattern, so standard weapon lights and lasers clamp right on. The gray finish gives a full-size 1911 a cleaner, more modern look, and molded-in ribbing plus a wraparound front strap section help lock the pistol into your hand. At roughly 60 grams it barely changes the balance of the gun. Cutouts around the mag release, safety, and slide stop keep all your controls easy to reach.
Fit Notes Before You Buy
This one is made for standard single-stack, full-size frames and Commander-length guns. It will not fit double-stack 1911s or compact and Officer-sized pistols, so if you're running a shorter frame, look at the CC3C instead. One thing worth knowing up front: the rail sits a bit lower on the dust cover than a factory railed 1911, so most standard holsters won't clear it once installed. A Recover holster made for this grip is the easy fix if you plan to carry it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the CC3H04 fit my 1911?
It's designed for standard single-stack, full-size 1911 frames as well as Commander-length pistols. It does not fit double-stack 1911s or compact and Officer-sized frames because the grip screw spacing and rail length won't line up. If you're running a shorter compact frame, the CC3C version is the one to look at.
Do I need a gunsmith to install the grip and rail system?
No. You can install it yourself in a few minutes by removing your old grips, placing the two halves on the frame, and tightening the trigger guard and rail screws with the included hex key. It clamps on and requires no permanent changes to the pistol, so nothing is drilled, tapped, or altered.
Does the CC3H04 come with grip screws?
It includes the hardware for the trigger guard and rail sections along with a hex wrench, but it does not include the grip panel screws. That's because 1911s from different makers use different grip screw sizes, so you reuse the factory screws that came off your original grips.
Will my regular 1911 holster still work with this installed?
Probably not. The rail sits lower on the dust cover than a factory railed 1911, and the grip adds material around the trigger guard, so most standard and even railed-1911 holsters won't clear it. A holster made specifically for the Recover grip is the simplest way to carry it once installed.
