Description

The 25×47 Lapua has caught fire with long-range and PRS crowds, and RCBS built this MatchMaster Competition set to give that cartridge a proper home at the reloading bench. It's a two-die outfit made up of a full-length bushing sizing die and the MatchMaster micrometer seater, both machined and finished to the same standard RCBS reserves for its top-shelf line. The 25×47 is a 6.5×47 Lapua necked down to .257, so most folks running it are already fussy about brass prep and consistency, and these dies are made to keep up with that mindset.

What the 25×47 Lapua Bushing Sizer Brings to the Bench

The sizing die runs interchangeable neck bushings, sold separately, so you set neck tension yourself by swapping bushing diameters instead of being locked into whatever the die maker decided. That self-centering bushing keeps concentricity clean and only works the brass as much as it needs to, which stretches case life on expensive Lapua-based brass. The decapping assembly comes with a TiCN-coated expander ball to cut down on brass buildup and give you smoother case extraction, and RCBS tucks a separate decapping pin holder in the box for anyone who prefers to run it without the expander.

Why the MatchMaster Seater Earns Its Keep

The seater is the star here. The oversized micrometer knob has big, easy-to-read hash marks and adjusts in true one-thousandth increments, so getting back to a proven seating depth is quick and repeatable. Its loading window lets you drop the bullet in and simply run the press rather than balancing a bullet on the case mouth. Inside, a free-floating sleeve catches the bullet and aligns it with the case before they meet, which is where that impressive concentricity comes from. The whole thing is finished with a deep blued look that wouldn't be out of place next to a fine rifle.

Proudly designed and built in the USA, this is a set for the reloader who treats accuracy as the whole point of the exercise.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to buy neck bushings separately for this 25×47 Lapua die set?

Yes. The full-length sizing die uses interchangeable neck bushings that are sold separately so you can dial in the exact neck tension you want. Many 25×47 shooters land around a .282 bushing, though your ideal size depends on your brass thickness and how much tension you prefer, so measuring a loaded round is the best way to pick.

Can I neck down 6.5×47 Lapua brass with the MatchMaster bushing die?

You can. The 25×47 is a 6.5×47 Lapua necked down to .257, and plenty of reloaders form their brass right through the bushing sizer without issue. Since a bushing die only sizes part of the neck, some folks do a first pass or check chamber fit when initially forming, but for ongoing loading the bushing die handles it cleanly.

What makes the MatchMaster seater die worth it over a standard seater?

The oversized micrometer head adjusts in clear one-thousandth increments so returning to a known seating depth is fast and repeatable. Its loading window and free-floating sleeve align the bullet with the case before seating, which produces the tight concentricity precision shooters are after. It's the kind of tool that pays off when small consistency gains show up on target.

Is the 25×47 Lapua a good cartridge for long-range and PRS shooting?

It's earned a strong following among long-range and precision rifle competitors thanks to its efficient case, quality Lapua-based brass, and manageable recoil. Shooters commonly run 130-135 grain .257 bullets at competitive velocities with excellent accuracy. If you enjoy tuning loads and chasing small groups, it's a rewarding round to build for.
