Most holsters try to do a lot. The Raven Concealment Vanguard 2 does one thing, and does it well: it snaps over the trigger guard of your Sig P365, P365X, or P365XL and leaves the rest of the pistol completely unobstructed. No shell wrapping the slide, no extra bulk pressing into your side. Just a small piece of molded polymer standing between the trigger and everything that shouldn't touch it.
This version ships with a 24 inch braided nylon cord that acts as a static line. Tie it off to your belt, a loop inside a bag, or an anchor point in a vehicle console. When you draw, the lanyard goes taut and pops the shell free, so the pistol comes out ready to go. Should the tether ever fail to strip it, the nose of the shell can be pried off with one hand, which is a smart bit of redundancy for a piece of gear this simple. It also works great without the cord as a plain trigger guard cover for storage and transport. The design still lets you cycle the slide and drop the magazine while the trigger stays protected, so you can clear the pistol without removing the shell.
Because the shell is so small and light, a lot of folks keep a couple of these around: one on the belt, one in the truck, one in the range bag. It's fully ambidextrous, so lefties are covered without buying anything extra. One heads up worth knowing going in: this style of holster is meant to be attached to the pistol before it goes in your waistband, not reholstered in place, and Raven says the same.
Here's a nice touch: the shell isn't a dead end. If you decide later that you want a full tuckable IWB setup with adjustable ride height and cant, Raven's Strut Kit converts this same shell into their complete holster system. Start minimal, upgrade when you're ready.
You're covered across the family. Since the shell only grabs the trigger guard, and that guard is shared across the P365, P365X, and P365XL, this one holster fits all three. That's one of the perks of the minimalist design.
The braided cord acts as a static line. You anchor it to your belt, the inside of a bag, or another fixed point, and when you pull the pistol, the cord goes tight and strips the shell off in one motion. If the tether ever slips, you can still catch the nose of the shell and pry it off one-handed as a backup.
No, and Raven is clear about this. The shell needs to be snapped onto the trigger guard before the pistol goes in your waistband. To put the gun away, pull everything out, attach the VG2 to the pistol, then tuck it back in. It's a different habit than a traditional kydex holster, but it becomes second nature quickly.
Yes. The same shell accepts Raven's VG2 Strut Kit, sold separately, which adds a belt attachment and turns it into a complete tuckable IWB holster with adjustable ride height and cant. It's a nice way to start simple and build up if your carry needs change.
